Hi Lebell,
Long time listener, first time caller (j/k). I grew up in a "Christian" environment and was generally taught the litaralist Christian viewpoint: What the Bible says IS Truth. As I matured and became (hopefully) a little wiser, I began to realize that not everything that is stated in the Bible is completely factual, and in fact, many people, have used and modified the Bible to to their liking throughout the years in order to gain control, power, money, glory, sympathy, etc. This has caused me to question my belief structure and I believe your opinions to be valuable. So my question to you is actually three-fold: 1) Do you believe the Bible, taken as the text we see today (Yes, I'm aware there are different versions) is a complete and acurate representation of what God would like us to see and know about him/her? 2) Do you believe in God because you beleive in the Bible, or do you believe in the Bible because you believe in God? Or maybe you don't believe in the Bible and/or the Christian God, in which case it would be good to know. 3) If you had grown up in a different environment, location, whatever, do you think you would have eventually found your way to Christianity and the Christian God, or would you have been drawn to what was normal and typical for that region - Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, etc. Are you open to completely new and foreign gods, or are you biased by your upbringing? Thanks for your insight, |
