For better or worse?

If you have two or more children, do the older siblings affect the younger ones? Do the younger ones pick up phrases, actions or morals from the older... Does it get annoying :D?

What kind of things does the younger child mirror?

This seems like an intresting subject

Yes, they older siblings DEFINITELY affect the younger ones.

I'm the third boy of three (I have a younger sister, too) Let me tell you, when I was younger, I went out of my way to emulate some of the things my big brothers said and did. What kinds of things? Well, I would see my brothers with their friends and they might be having a lot of fun and such... so I'd try to copy that. Or they would say something funny and I would repeat it (even though it meant I may not understand what it meant at all).

Did it get annoying? I'm sure it did for them. My oldest brother is 6 years older than me, so for his little brother to be following him around, I'm sure it got tiresome. He was a rather angry boy in high school, though.

Maybe, Maybe not
my sister is 18 months older than I am -- and she's everything I am not. She's a real girlie girl, really close to our mother, got married fairly young, popped out a bunch of kids, doesnt work.

When we were kids, she was all about studying studying studying - -and got Ok grades, but never really put her self out there for anything.

I played all sorts of sports, editor of the school paper, drama club, all sorts of activities, studying was the last thing on my mind - but got better grades than she did and went to a better college than she did (though she won't admit that)

Two blown engagements -- I have never seen the point in the married thing, can't have children -- just kind of polar opposites.

My choices had nothing to do with her, least I don't think so... though I often heard as a teen, why can't you be more like your sister (my parents thought I was a wild child - -and I was the farthest thing from it truth be told- I just had some wild friends)

My older duaghter effects the other in that she bosses her around a lot. But their personalities are totally different. They are both good girls. The older is more like a princess. Younger, very happy "go-lucky." They both are good at gymnastics and school.

The twins I raised are very much alike. Both in the Air Force, both into family, etc. However, one is married with children and the other is single. Both date (marry) woman I wouldn't choose for them. Younger son is extremely intelligent, anti-military, and headed toward college. He could care less about family.

Do they have an effect on each other -- absolutely. Are their personalities like each others -- no.

The one-year-old follows the 4-year-old everywhere and tries to do everything his big brother does. Cliche but true.

I have two daughters, aged 4 and 10. They are quite different in personality - the older one is a little more studious and pious, and the younger one is a little ratbag (in the most loving sense of the word). But the younger one is incredibly influenced by her sister, and I'm lucky to have an intelligent, sensible older daughter who understands the importance of role modelling.
