Have your Dr.'s every prescribed this medication for a gassy baby? One of the "old skool" Dr.s in the practice that we goto did. We never gave the medicine to our twin girls because they were on Zantec (treating reflux that they didn't have).

Anyway, the reason I ask, my wife got a call from her cousin that lives quite a bit away (don't stay in touch too awful much) to tell her that she as well has a very colicly baby (heard about our scream team from family) that they are treating him with this "wonderful medicine". We recogonized the name of what we were prescribed as well. My wife got off the phone and called the Nurse at the Dr.s office, she said that this medicine is rarely used anymore and has serious side effects. Well, of course the question comes up Why the fuck did our Dr. prescribe it to us! The answer, well, she is a bit older, and from an older time where they used this medicine on fussy babies. I start my research, come to find out, this is the leading cause of SIDS, comas, stopped breathing and freakin heart attacks in babies! I was outraged. Of course the wife spoke to her cousin about the information i had found and what the Nurses and other Dr.s were saying about this.

I am sure there is good and bad to every medication, and everyone has an opinion on what works and what doesn't. I just want to educate any mommies or daddies out there that could be treating their kids with this medicine. Be Careful!

It never hurts to get a second opinion and educate yourself. From all the things I've heard - people who educate themselves about medicine and medical conditions tend to be the best patients.
