Cute & Silly quirks of your child(ren)
My 4 yr. old son is obsessed with pajamas.
Picking them out the day before or morning of. Making little comments of it getting dark or asking if it's "jammie time". Never wants to get clothes on. |
My littlest nephew likes to tell jokes. The jokes don't make sense but he always follows the joke with this smile that makes you laugh anyways.
|
My 3 yr old like insists that he pics his underpants and pajamas. his favorite is Sponge Bob Underpants. He also has to have his bed set up a certain way before he goes to sleep, with is stuffed animals in specific places. Then when he goes in his room to go to bed, he dive bombs the bed messing up all the animals. Then Mom & me fix them & he goes to sleep.

My 3 yr old daughter likes to say "OH Tarter Sauce." when she's frustrated. It makes Grammy crack up every time.
She also likes to wear her tap shoes to play in cause they make a "pretty noise." She also loves cars and racing. She'll sit and watch the Nascar races on Sunday more than I will. She says she's going to race cars when she's big and Daddy can fix her car when she wrecks it. Oh no. :o |
My son (2 years) has had all kinds of quirks, but recently it has been the "lights off" one that has been really funny. He loves to turn the lights off and then he gets mad when we turn them back on and he'll even go so far as to yell "lights off" on occasion and then go turn them back off.
We think it spawned from him wanting to "tuck-in" his stuffed animals cause we noticed him putting a blanket over them and kissing them "goodnight". |
My 2 year old refuses to talk, she can, she just won't. She points to what she wants and where she wants it. If you ask her to say goodbye she waves and if you ask her to SAY goodbye she points to her already waving hand. It kills me every time she does it.

My sister at 2 already has a wide vocabulary, she can pick things up within minutes. Recently we went on a road trip(short road trip) We drove by some horses and she got all excited. "Ooooo"
"They're horses" I told her. "Whores!" We all laughed(big mistake). We passed cows: "Whores!" Well, since then if it's not a human, a kiki or a puppy it's a whores! Note: One of her other favorite things to say is "I wanna puppy" I taught her to say it since she's getting a puppy this summer and our neighbor has a small terrior that looks, to her, like a puppy. Edit: She likes to attack our kiki, May, all the time. Poor Kitty |
This thread makes me want to have kids :).

14 month old girl picks up random objects and puts them to her ear while saying, "Hello?"
She dances everytime she hears musics, regardless of what she is doing or how she feels. When she does something she isn't supposed to do and "hurts" somebody's feelings, she gives them a big fat, wet kiss. If she sees something she wants, she says, "More?". We're still hoping to get her to say please. I cannot wait to see what she does as she gets older. |
My 3 yr old likes to listen to rock music with me, and he bangs his head to the music. (Its Dads music to him, as everyone else listens to other types of music. Also he only wants to listen to Guy singers!)
When his mom gets frustrated with him asking all sorts of question she tells him to get off her back. He always replies, "but mommy I'm not on your back!" He also is into answering the phone now. He picks it up and says "hello" but then just sits there. Eventually he will just hand it to whomever comes in the room, to find out who answered the phone. |

My 6 month old daughter likes to squeal - loud and high pitched. It makes my ears hurt, but even when my ears are ringing it's so funny I laugh my head off.
|
My four year old requests specific music. We just had this conversation -
"I think you should play Clutch...the new one." I think that CD is in the car. Is there something else you would like to hear? He pauses and thinks for a moment. "How about Clutch - Elephant Riders?" It is just so cute when he requests rockin' tunes by name. He likes ska and some roots music, but has no patience for anything mellow. The classical and jazz collections go unplayed. The kid wants to rock. |
My nephew, 4, always counters any threat of punishment with raised fists, asking, "Do you want a fresh one?"
Comes from what his dad says when he's being bad. |
My niece sings along to The Little Mermaid. It's become her favorite movie. It's so hilarious, mostly those parts thats all "aaaahh ahhh aahhhh" or whatever. Really loudly too.
And she loves her puppy. If she's not around Shelby says "Where puppy, where puppy?" And it's My Puppy. We ask her what the puppys name is (Lady) and Shelby says "My Puppy!" Sometimes resturants put butter into a dish and it looks like a small scoup of ice cream. This is bad news if Shelby is around... She'll just say "Cream" over and over until we give her a taste and she realizes its butter. Bad thing though - she loves the taste of butter... |
This thread was very entertaining. I would love to read more:)

Every day is a new adventure with our 3.
When my oldest was little she would always say, "I'm having issues" whenever she was having a problem with something. My 2 1/2 year-old (a boy) is full into daredevil mode. It's kinda funny when he hurts himself (not bad, just a little boo-boo), he says (in a 2 1/2 year-old voice), "ow-ow-ow-ow-ow..." Oh yeah, I don't know where he got the idea, but he is into prat-falls (sp?). He climbs to the top of the stairs and pretends to fall down the stairs (slow-motion, about one step every 3-5 seconds). It reminds me of the old Eddie Murphy bit about his Aunt falling down the stairs. It is a bunch of "ow's" and "oohh's" with a "help, I'm falling down the stairs" mixed in. He then gets to the last step, stops and then launches himself forward into a final, fake fall. We just sat there laughing. He then realized he had an audience so he just went back up an did again and again and again. (yes, I had to break out the camcorder for this one). And when he gets in trouble he runs to the other parent. He got in trouble with my wife earlier today and got a light spank. His response was to run all the way down to the basement (where my office is) and screams, "Daaaadddddyyyy......mommy 'panked my butt!" Not to be left out, the 1 year-old learned how to say boo-boo (and what it meant). Since she is walking for the first time, there is a bunch of booooo-booooo's. Plus, when she sees that SpongeBob (my favorite as well) is coming on, she runs around with her hands up saying, "Ba...ba....ba" Gawd they are fun (most of the time)... |
My kids have done so many of the things already mentioned - from 5 - 9 months my daughter made this squealing/howling noise that earned her the nickname 'Locust Baby'; my kids love to play air guitar and drums in the car, while I am the lead singer; and my son, 6, loves telling me stories. He has a habit of saying, 'And Mom, guess what? or 'And you know what, Mom' all the way through the tale. He physically can't recount something without saying one or both repeatedly.

My daughter, who is 20 months old, is a real character...
She has a pacifier, only when she is in her crib to sleep. Before she gets up she will either drop them out of her crib or put them on the outside edge of the bed. This way she can sneak back into her room and get the pacifier... like we don't notice. My wife makes her put the pacifier on the wall side of her crib. She also insists, now on sitting at the table with us rather than in her highchair... She is almost exactly like Ned's daughter... she understands what we are saying (i.e. take this and put it in the garbage... she puts it in the garbage) and even says a few words but she would rather just point and say either mom mom mom or dad dad dad... Whenever she sees a motorcycle or a scooter she points and says Dada! (I drive a scooter). Every morning when I leave for work she sits on the porch and waves while I drive off... I usually give a little toot on my scooter's horn. The other day, when I forgot to honk she was very upset. She looked up at my wife with a worried look on her face saying honk, honk? |
My favorites are all of the malaprops my second boy came up with. My favorite of all? Rice Creepies (Krispies), which I eat and smile about every day.
