For Every Choice You Make...
OK, just accept this (for the rest of the post), it'll make the rest easier:ever time you think of something or make a choice, a new dimensions is created where that actually occurs. (for this activity a dimension is, in my eyes, a separate universe from our own like an entirely separate plane from ours; a parallel universe) if you have ever watched the show "Sliders" you should understand what i mean.
for example: What should i do now?, you think maybe i'll order chinese, but you eat left overs. simply thinking oh maybe i'll get chinese, creates a dimension where that actually happends. for every choice you make there are infinite possiblities and infinite out comes, creating infinite parallel universes where each thing would actually happen so if you had gotten chinese, the delivery girl might have given YOU a tip :D haha , see u get my point. i was actually goin to post about something different but i realized i should just leave it like this seeing how crazy this might seem to some. so i shall leave u with this question: What do you really want? (taking the previous into consideration, you might as well give real answers and not stupid ones) you dont really need to discuss the question, seeing as how it's for you and not for me, discuss the idea. |
I could post a real or a stupid answer here...
Either way there are 2 new dimensions created (if this is actually a binary decision). Now how would I know which one you will be in? You might see my other answer? So whichever answer I give... I can rest assured that somewhere someone reads my other answer :) |
you ask me to accept this.
then you ask me what I really want. I don't see a connection between the two things you have just asked me to do. |
Well, according to this theory, like you said, there is an infinite amount of parallel universes out there already, for every choice ever made. This means that any possible outcome of history, and even evolution, already exists somewhere.
It could be small differences in choice, like ordering chinese or eating leftovers, but it could also be a long chain of decisions - which way a protein folds, how a random and chaotic chemical reaction takes place (ie: the big bang), etc. For all we know, if I can think about it, it exists, no matter how unlikely. A universe where giant sentient rolls of toilet paper terrorize the butt people. Or perhaps one exactly like ours, except where spacetime and matter are interchanged. As for what I want - the decision has already been made. You just have to find the right universe where it has occurred. |
So eventually an infinite number of bad decisions will have been made and in time an infinite number of parallel universes would cease to exist with human life or cease to exist entirely, because say, somehow those in such universes made enough bad decisions to wipe out the human race/earth/solar system/galaxy/universe.
Think we'll make it? |

also, posted by Nefir: "As for what I want - the decision has already been made. You just have to find the right universe where it has occurred." |
let's see.
it tends to put us at the center of an infinite number of possible universes. I guess I don't see what difference it makes except to multiply everything exponentially- like a hall of mirrors - ok, with each one reflecting something slightly (or majorly) different. I mean, aren't things complex enough? I'm more interested in universes that I'm either not a part of or at least not at the center of... |
I'd rather call them parallel universes.
Let's call them probabilities. The former tends to lend itself to a more permanent condition. Which is a whole different concept. |
Why would it put is in the center? Maybe we are in a dimension of someone elses thought.. For all we know (if this is true) We could be in the realm of the Chinese tip giving girl.
|
Why would our realm revolve around the Chinese girl?
Maybe we shift through realms. |
I'm not saying we revolve around the chinese girl, all i'm saying is what makes us so special that everything revolves around us. Maybe all the dimensions were pre-made so that we are in a certain dimension where all our thoughts are already planned even though it doesn't seem like it, they seem like random thoughts but what if those random thoughts were already mapped to be..thought.. I like the shifting through realms idea though.

this was the original conceit that implicates us in the centrality of all this:
"...ever time you think of something or make a choice, a new dimensions is created where that actually occurs. " people who spend inordinate amounts of time at the center of multiple hypothetical universes are overwhelmingly insane |
Actually, it's the other way around.
There is an infinite possible universes already in existence. A choice made doesn't create new universes, instead it destroys universes in which that choice wasn't made. Reversing a decision doesn't re-create the destroyed universes because the "possibility-of-reversal" universes still exist. The longer the decision goes unreversed, more of those universes disappear until it's impossible to reverse a decision. The "center of the universe" you occupy is illusionary. Your observable universe is so small compared to the actual universe as to disappear in irrelevancy. You can't shift enough in position to observe a parallactical shift in the universe, so it appears that you're always in the center. |
HAHA the funiest thing is that no one said anything about how it's completely possible that we are just someone's thought :p
