Yeah I see where the whole preaching the good news thing can be anoying, but it is a part of the religion. It is required of christians to go out and try to show none beilevers a path to the faith. I'd be pissed of if someone cam around and tried to press ther beliefes on my but I guess its just something you have to live with.

There are a lot of thoughtful, well argued points on this thread. I appreciate the time these posters put into voicing their beliefs. This includes some short posts, which likely took much time to compose and structure in your mind. It is not the length of the post, but well thought out content.
Having said that, please keep the discussions civil. Religion is a topic that can get folks' danders up. We will not tolerate name calling or flames. |

I like religious people who use it for self improvement and vanity control. Some people of all religions (to include Marxism, Socialism, God religions, and anti- God religions,etc...) merely use their belief as justification for feeling and acting superior. Nietzsche was right, it all boils down to power. How people make it a part of their life. Or how they try to disregard it.

The thing to remember, here and anywhere else religion is discussed, that there is a major difference between the faith and the organizations that support it or are supported by it. Belief in in Christianity and the Catholic Church are not the same. The Church may be guilty of all sorts of wackiness in your view, but the belief system in itself has done nothing.
Compare religion to race. Why is it okay to lump all Christians into the same pot, but it isn't okay to lump all Blacks/Hispanics/Asians/etc? Where is the difference? I know more than a few folks who call themeselves Christian (or one of the various attendant branches). They all act differently, have different agendas, differng intensity of faith, etc. Yet they are all tarred by the same brush if you listen to the standard atheist screed. "and eventually the origin of all religions....Kabbalah" Erm, I could be wrong. It's been a while since I left college, and I never studied Qaballah heavily, but I recall pre-Aryan fire-god worship in India predating pretty much every other religion by about a thousand years. As I said, I could be wrong.... |

true,true,untrue,true...etc. I'm not saying this proves materialism, I'm just saying it doesn't disprove it, either. |
