Individuals can be good, but I think right now man as a whole is bad. It might change in the years to come, but if you watch more than 30 seconds of the news each day, it doesn't look like it.

Wrong: you're taking the worst examples (on tv) of a given population (humans) as being indicative of the whole. Never forget that news channels are there to make *money*. They make money by showing you what they think the avarage human wants to see - death and destruction (preferable somewhere else). This grabs and holds the attention, preventing channel-surfing and allowing various ads to be seen (=money for the network).
