The God Delusion
I got this book for Christmas, which I thought was a nice paradox on my brother's part, anyways an incredible book, backs up Darwinian theory very well in my opinion. Makes for a great book to carry around if your the type who gets into arguments with Christian friends (or foes I suppose) due to the mass of arguments held within.

Who is the author?
Never mind...Richard Dawkins. ;) Sounds right up my alley! :D |
Well, I could mail it to you I suppose if you can't find it at a library or whatever, I'm finished with it already heh
|
The God Delusion was a pretty good book. I have been a huge Richard Dawkins fan ever since I read The Blind Watchmaker as a teenager.
You can watch Dawkins's TV documentary The Root of All Evil? online here: http://huderon.blogspot.com/2006/12/...d-dawkins.html A couple of other good books I would recommend are: The End of Faith by Sam Harris Breaking the Spell by Daniel Dennet What is Good? by A. C. Grayling Why I am Not a Christian by Bertrand Russell. |
I agree with Why I am Not a Christian, also might wanna check out Why I am not a Muslim, its good as well
|
CSfilm, thanks for posting the link. I've been looking for that documentary.
I'm partway through The God Delusion, and I think it's a great book. I just finished Letter to a Christian Nation, which was also very good. These reads are preaching to the choir (pardon the pun), but the arguments are solid and present angles that I hadn't thought about before. Both of those books, especially Dawkins', got a lot of publicity and initiated a lot of discussion (to describe some of it nicely). Plus, the shiny silver cover is a real eye-catcher on the train. All will be well if these books don't get me pushed onto the third rail one of these days. :) |
It's amazing what sense can be made debunking nonsense.
|
Its true. He does a really good job, and uses such awesome theories like the space tea cup and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
|
The God Delusion is on my reading list.
Maybe I will pick it up at the store today. |
The Flying Spaghetti Monster?
I mean, the Fabulous Flying Zucchini Brothers often make an appearance in my kitchen when I'm getting the vegies ready for dinner, but the Flying Spaghetti Monster? |

Ah, thanks very much Charlatan and CSflim, helps make me look less crazy when people can see what the things I mentioned were.
