about driving
after my accident, ive been increasingly paranoid about driving. the strange thing is, im not paranoid on my own behalf, rather on my parents'. just them. anytime they're out for a long time, i start thinking of fairly remote situations like they being involved in a horrible accident. i feel fine about driving myself, and don't really feel any different about friends driving, but i get really paranoid about my parents driving....why?

i've ran into the same experience...i've known people that get in an accident..whether its getting hit by other people or getting in an accident at work and I become worried...but then I realized we take risks everyday when we wake up and get outta bed......

When I got involved in an accident I was only a learner driver, and I was afraid to get behind a wheel for a few days after that. Now I drive like a maniac again without regard for my own safety. Time heals all wounds

Sounds psychological to me, nothing paranormal here. I think since most children are so close to our parents, at least subconscoiusly, we feel connected to them. You aren't afraid of getting in an accident yourself because you know that you are in control of you car. However, you aren't in control of your parent's car. Maybe its a deep rooted feeling that your parent's cannot take care of themselves, or you are simply afraid of losing them.

same here, I'm really paranoid about other folks driving, when I'm not with them...... (read the almost died thread for details about accident) :)

It's actually a pretty common response after a critical incident like your crash. Scary, but whether you get back in the saddle isup to you.
It is scary driving even without other issues, there are way too many stupid/impaired drivers who make this game a real challenge. |
