Truly Awesome...

wow, what a great link, thanks!

for anyone who like Lovecraft, I'd highly recommend "The New Lovecraft Circle" and another set of ghost written stories that I can't recall the name of, but features a tale by Harlan Ellison.

iamtheone 05-12-2004 10:40 AM

One of the best!

Amazing link...thanks

rev_skarekroe 06-02-2004 09:41 AM

It's missing "The Challenge From Beyond," the round-robin story written with Robert E. Howard and (I think) Frank Belknap Long, as well as all his revision work (which were usually near complete rewrites) like "Curse of Yig" and "The Horror In The Museum".

Just in case you're, you know, a completist.

Maybe I'm off the far side but does anyone notice a similarity of style between Brian Lumley (sp?) and Mr. Lovecraft? I'm not talking about the Necroscope, but 'Houses without Doors?' and such?
I'll be checking that link out soon though. Thanks.

There is a cool book by Peter Straub that I read a few years ago where the evil character finds that the works of Lovecraft are actually some freaky deaky bible, I can't remember the name of the book though.

w00t, HPL is the man. His work influenced soo much modern horror that you shoudl read them just to get the references and homages in modern works. Even Ghostbusters is Lovecraftian horror (elder gods breaking through from other dimensions and freaky deaky warlock conquerors anyone?).

roachboy 06-29-2004 05:29 AM

this is great stuff--thanks...

I'll be checking that link out soon though. Thanks.

Lumley began his career by writing mainly Cthulhu mythos stories (though in truth his style is probably more influenced by Lovecraft protege August Derleth).
Check out any of his earlier works for more.

I have these all on my palm :) fun to read on the way home from work....

braindamage351 09-05-2004 11:04 PM

I think it was a bad idea to read these stories in the dark at 3 in the morning while listening to "Climbing Up the Walls" by Radiohead. The cable went to static and I shit my pants.

The Phenomenon 09-06-2004 05:09 AM

Superb link!

Thanks a lot.

Nafter 09-12-2004 03:27 PM

nice one, ill give them a read for sure

"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents."

one of my all-time favorite short-story opening lines. sums up lovecraft's themes in a single sentence, i think.
