It's happening again....
So I was looking for some 9 volt batteries that I had left in the basement, one of those 12 packs. I looked all over the area where I had left them. I opened my toolbox and looked in there. The batteries were nowhere to be found. I needed the batteries for the smoke detectors in my kids rooms, so I was getting a bit bent that i couldn't find them. Finally, I resorted to liberating a battery from one of the baby monitors. The next day, I went to get a hammer or something and there were the batteries...right on top of the toolbox. I was hoping that my wife put them there, but no, she didn't. Now I'm just waiting for the kids toys to start up on their own again. Damn freaky house, although I'm glad that whatever is going on is helpful/playful and not scary.

I put them back where I found them though...

Thanks MSD. I was in process of replying to nash last night when "it" happened again. There I was sitting minding my own business, when all of a sudden my scanner turned on and began scanning and printing. I totally freaked out and just shut down the PC and went to bed. I am thankful though that the "entity" is just fucking with me a little here and there and not totally terrifying me by showing itself. Keeps me on my toes.

I think I'm going to take some advice that MSD gave another poster, I'm going to have a conversation with "it". Should be entertaining.
I am taking everything in stride. There isn't too much I can do about what's happening, I just have to kind of grin and bear it, so to speak. It's not like the "entity" is a problem, it's just freaking me out every once in a while. Maybe it's just a guardian angel letting me know that someone is watching over me...let's hope.

Yeah been there. I have 3 remotes 1 each for the tv, dvd and stereo. I got someone here that likes playing games and hiding my TV remote, as well as various other things in my bedroom. I occasionally just leave the TV on in my room. I would have the remote for the tv on the nightstand leave the room for a couple hours come back and want to change the channel and the remote would be gone. I look around thinking that I just might have put the remote on my dresser or my desk course its not there either. I leave the room knowing very well that I didnt take it out but ah just for personal comfort I check outside the room anyways. I come back 10 or 15 minutes later and of course the remote is almost in the same spot I left it. I dont mind who ever it is watching TV I would much prefer though that they would tell me not to change the channel rather then taking the remote...lol

heh.. I speak with everything thats near me.. then again.. I have emapthical psychic abilities... so I can't help it. I feel their emotions.. its strong in free floating spirits, than those incased by flesh. (i feel an angel's emotions easier than I feel a human's) I speak, they speak back.. in their emotions.. its like body language.. you can get a lot from it. Personally I've made friends with everything here.. .problem is.. many of them were demons.. now I dont' feel anything... kinda makes me sad really. Ah well though, I've had my experience to warrent such things. As for Wrkime, yeah be careful man. It might wanna mess with you, it may be playful, it might just want to be your friend. But by giving it attention could make it want to stay.. and bug you more. There is a lot to take in here and figure out what to do. Need help, just ask me.

Me being batshit insane has very little to do with this
Seriously though, this shit is freaking me out. I experience cold spots, hot spots, areas that smell like smoke, shit missing only to find it right out in the open where I had just been looking, toys turning themselves on at midnight....it is definitely freaking me out.

Have you considered seeing a neurologist? Tumors and abscesses and embolisms and aneurisms and epilpesy (sp?) have the very same sypmtoms as what you're describing. I had a friend that used to have things go missing and smell wierd smells and all that and have hot and cold feelings and things and it turned out he had a tumor in his brain and had to have it taken out. It wsn't cancer or anything and I'm not trying to scare you. I'm just sayiong that sometime there's other explanations.
Have you ever had a serious head trauma? A blow to the head? That could be an answer. At least something to consider. I don't believ in all that "Entity" stuff- I've had some really freaky stuff happen to me, too, but there's always been a rational answer for it.

I hear what you're saying Hammerhand, but I'm clean. Got no medical ills, just some unexplainable shit happening. Trust me, I have searched for some explanation, there isn't one. Unless of course I got a concussion or suffered some head trauma that I am unaware of...maybe this is all a dream.

"Not quite so simple. I wish it was but it's not. Too many weird things happen to me in my basement."
I feel for you. My wife and I moved into a house built in the twenties and the room I use as my office has created a number of bizarre events. One of my dogs will always go in there and sniff around like there's something there, I constantly hear footsteps and the weirdest of all is how after we had been there a few months, an old baseball card appeared on my desk one night. Next day it was gone and reappeared a couple of weeks later. I have caught random movements out of the corner of my eye that I can never attribute to anything in particular. It's kind of weird but it keeps things interesting Last edited by Nitrox; 06-24-2004 at 12:47 PM.. |

Nitrox, that sounds very similar to my experiences. It's really fun being the only one awake in the house and catching movement out of the corner of your eye and you know that no one is there, well you know that no one SHOULD be there. Yeah....good times.

Sounds like you might be dealing with house gremilins, instead of a full fledged "haunting". Try leaveing a soucer of milk out a couple nights a week. If things calm down a lot, then chances are that is what you got. Playfull house spirits basicly. Make them happy and they can be very helpful. Lost stuff turning up out of the blue, something you need just happens to end up in reaching distence, ect. If that doesn't work and things still keep getting wakced out on ya, then call in the old preist and the young preist.

There are those who believe -- and they're actually physicists -- that multiple realities exist side by side. A particular timeline might split apart _ and merge again._
And there are even those who believe that people can drift back and forth between very similar timelines. For example, you put a TV remote in a drawer, go back later and don't find it there because you're now in a timeline where you put it _somewhere else._ Then eventually you drift back to your original timeline (or to a one that's very similar) and the remote is back where you put it. Meanwhile, some other "you" was drifting around in your timeline also trying to find the remote, because on his timeline he _didn't_ put the damn thing in a drawer. Occasionally you'll even hear of a person being seen, and even talked to, in two different places at the same time. Anyway, it's as fun an explanation as ghosts, and even spookier in its way. As to why it should happen more often to you than others, maybe you live at some sort of weak point in the fabric of reality (I can't believe I actually wrote that). But I think it might happen to everyone -- ever drive down a street for the 1000th time and notice a gas station that you'd swear was never there before? A full-grown tree in somebody's yard that you'd swear wasn't there yesterday. I was once driving down an empty boulevard early one Christmas morning and had a taxicab appear alongside me out of nowhere. As far as I could tell, there was nowhere he could have turned on. Sure, maybe I wasn't paying attention, but... who know? |

That episode sounds almost exactly like a short story called "Yesterday was monday" (or something like that, i can't recall exactly what it was called or who wrote it now. >_< ). It's an interesting story, suggesting that life is one big play and we are "actors", whether we know it or not.

I went through that back in Florida when i was younger. My things would go missing and I'd get mad, thinking I misplaced them. But one day I decided to test it out, to rule out the misplacing possibility.. i took a small teddy bear and put it on my dresser.. when i woke up in the morning it was gone, and I smiled to myself because I knew it wasn't me. That house was freaky all around tho. I'd hear weird things and feel someone watching me. I hated that place. lol.

How's this for a follow-up:
This weekend I was working on building a wooden frame for my daughter's vegetable garden. I was in the basement gathering the tools I would need. I grab the safety goggles, but I set them on the toolbox for a second while I grabbed the circular saw, I turned back to grab the goggles and they were gone. So I said out loud, "OK, fuckface, cut the shit and put the fucking goggles back. I'm going outside to bring out the tools and when I come back the fucking goggles better be there or we are going to have a very unpleasant encounter." I left, brought the tools outside and when I returned, the goggles were back, exactly where I had left them. I still have chills running up and down my spine...wtf. Apparently though, whatever is going on isn't evil, just playful. which is fine. I'm just sick and tired of feeling like I'm crazy. I can't tell my wife, she'd think I'd gone insane for sure, but I don't mind if you guys think I'm crazy.

And more seriously, if you caught the returning of your goggles on videotape, do you think it would just magically appear out of nowhere, or would it float from wherever it was hidden to your toolbox? I'm really wondering about that. I'd be so scared to see that happen. Last edited by nash; 05-24-2004 at 07:47 PM.. |

First, be careful spirits sometimes are playful at first and as they increase in power they can become more and more menacing. Going from hiding things to trapping people in rooms to eventually harming someone.
If I were you, I'd check the local records and see if the house has any history to it. It maybe the spirit isn't playing with you but trying to get your attention to warn you of something or to help "it" find something to set it free.

Go to your library and ask them if they have any records, most libraries have some form of historical data over the areas.
Former owners are a very good way also. Also your local paper could be of help. I'd be interested in what you dig up. How old is the house? Yes, if it is a spirit stuck sometimes it is because he had unfinished business and needs it to be done. It's usually because they died in a violent way and suddenly. You're not nuts. From your posts it sounds like a spirit desperately trying to get you attention. Next time something happens just ask him/her what you can do to help. Don't be afraid and be as sincere as possible.

It would be a nice explanation as to why I keep losing my keys. I never put them in a specific place... so if I throw them down and well... you do the math... that would explain the long searches. ---------------------------- One thing I've noticed is that you shouldn't EVER take a spirit to be evil. I do believe that I have had various demons in my house. One of them tried to hurt me via dreams on multiple occasions. I'd end up speaking to them once I realized they were there... thats just how I am. Of course how it originally started with the demons is that whenever I'd grab a pop in the basement fridge, I'd feel really REALLY freaked out. I'd just sense them and since there was more than one... it was a lot to take in. I didn't know what to do so I'd talk outloud to them and make a complete fool at myself. I figured the worst that would come of it as that when I die, God will replay those moments to everyone, and that I can live with. Well I continued to do that well into realizing that they were in fact demons. At which point when I realized that I wasn't just freaked out but that another entity really was there, I began to speak to him/her/them. I actually ended up becoming friends with them. There were about 3 of them and they seemed to be about the age of 16 human years equivolency. How? Its how they acted. Some days I'd be on my computer and out of no where I'd get this really freaky image of a spider in my mind. I am terrified of spiders. It was much like a "snake in the can" type of gag. I quickly said, "Thats Not Funny!" as I immediately felt them laughing (pretty easy emotion to notice). I then looked at it from their POV and then laughed agreeing that it was funny.. but that I'd prefer they not do that. I continued to talk to them whenever they were around and quite honestly I had a good time. I didn't fear them but said Hi to them everyday just like I would any other. Then one day.... they were gone. I don't know what happened to them, and honestly I'm curious. I'm hoping they went to a better place and not to be punished for not doing anything to me. About 3 months ago... I felt something in that room again.. only one spirit kinda stocky... semi-evil presence. Immediately I spoke to him and made small chit-chat, acted like a fool (why not, I laugh from it too), grabbed my soda and said, "later!" He was there for only a matter of days before disappearing. I haven't felt ANYTHING for quite some time now. Its as if all spirits just don't bother with me. My mom also put a picture of Jesus down there as protection (as I alerted her to what was down there). Now I just feel nothing... One of these days I'm sure to feel them around again, and I cannot wait.
