Hiding Out

Greatest realistic fear?

I mean things that might actually happen.

Mine is waking up and just not being able to breathe. Being awake to feel the total helplessness and not being able to do a damn thing about it except expect the impending darkness that follows. It's scary beacause it's possible, I think.

Well what's yours?

Getting knifed to death on an empty street for some meager amount of cash.

Getting hit by a drunk driver who's not obeying traffic laws, and thus is completely unexpected.

Having any of the above happen to people I know and care about.

Seriously?

A nuclear bomb in Tel Aviv or New York.

Going out late and getting knifed or shot.

Being burned alive in a fire.

Getting cancer and lingering for months or years in great pain.

Watching my loved ones die.

Those are the things I fear.

My own death.

It doesn't matter how it comes, I'll be shit scared. I had a problem with sleep apnea at one point in my life where I several times stopped breathing while I slept. Even though I was unconsius, I very well remember the feeling of suffocating while not being able to do anything about it. When I pass the point where I normally wouldn't be able to hold my breath, this creepy numb feeling spreads through my body and you feel like you fall into yourself. Luckily it has never gone beyond that, after this I always wake up gasping for air. But during the few seconds this takes place, I manage to feel that this is it; that I'm dying.

It's the worst feeling I've ever experienced.

Yeah I think I would be destroyed if my brother were killed, if I think about it too hard i even get emotional. Same with rest of the family i'm just closer to my brother (he's a younger brother btw.)

Drowning..Would have to be my biggest fear, I can't swim...Go ahead and laugh. My Mom could not swim when I was a kid..so she never let me around water. I will go in swimming pools, If it's not a swimming pool then I will not go in the water.

When I was younger there were a few times when i went under and My lungs started to fill with water...I guess I panicked and didn't even think to hold my breath until I got above the surface. I was only 8 or 9 years old. I was being watched by adults, But I just slipped or something and went under...Then came back up hacking up water... I remember that feeling like it was yesterday...Not good at all.

Being shot, I had a dream one time that I was shot...It burns like hell...In the dream it did anyways.

Being Stabbed...Just cause that would hurt sooo badly.

I totally agree. My biggest fear by far is something like that happening to my loved ones. It's really hard because then I worry too much about things I can't control, especially friends/family getting into car accidents etc.

I've always been scared of getting old... Alzheimer's runs in the family, and having your mind disintigrate around you seems like one of the scariest things that could happen to someone.

I also have a horrible fear of scorpions.

I had dreamed this once. And even to this day it scares the sanity out of me.I dreamt i was with my family and we went to the mountains, hiking.and i accidentally slipped and i started to fall.As I fell I could see my family walking away as if nothing happened.I could see the mountain moving beside me as i was falling. The strange thing is that when i woke up I landed on my bed as if i fell from the mountain to my bed.I was about three inches above my bed and then as i woke up i fell from that height.Pretty friggin wierd eh?

If I lost an arm, I wouldn't be able to type the same way that I always have, and my goal of working with computers would be pretty much gone.

The worst is the thought of losing my sight, followed closely by losing my hearing.

hmm. i have lots of fears.

sometimes it is nill to none, sometimes it is overwhelming. when i was young i had the great fear of Christ coming back and me left on earth (thanks mom, thanks dad)

i fear being stranded or in a car wreck due to my inability to get away. i've gone so far as to figure out suicide schemes some odd years ago.

i fear harm coming to people while i'm in a helpless position.

i fear failure.

bah. enough

about the only thing i do -not- fear are people. they aren't worth my time.

Rendered comatose - someone has to decide whether to keep me alive or pull the plug. Every now and then I read about coma patients who came back when doctors had insisted on pulling the plug. Just think how many people might have been able to come back if they didn't pull the plug...

Death/Living alone - Everyone dies alone. I loathe loneliness.

Going blind - Rather blind than Deaf.

Being abducted or accosted/Didn't make a difference - If I suddenly disappeared, would I be missed? Would anyone notice I'm gone? A friend of mine committed suicide who didn't think he made a difference, but he left a lasting impression. Will I be like him or forgotten in a year.
