My deaf cat can hear things..

Now I know my cat is deaf, the vet, and my family know this. But one time when I was home alone, my cat was sitting by me, where his ears just flickered up, and he bolted up and ran somewhere. My cat is 21 years old, and he can't run, so this freaked me out, I followed him, and I ended up in the basement, with my cat walking around in circles. Then I heard voices upstairs, I grabbed a bat, and began walking upstairs, slowly.

The voices were coming from outside, I peered out, and there was two people, with a truck, unloading something in a bag, then they looked at the neighbors, and then they looked at my house, I had my TV pretty loud, with a window cracked, so I think the two people heard the noise, so they got in their car, put the thing they were unloading back in the truck, and drove off. After a few minutes, the drove in the neighbors yard, the neighbor's weren't home because the husband had died, and everyone at that house was at the funeral. I saw the two people go inside, then I darted off, turning off the TV, anything loud, and waited, behind my refrigerator. The two people ended up leaving, and later that day, the neighbors came home, to a robbed house. Now I don't know how my cat knew anyone was near my house, but I think if my cat knew something was fishy, and whenever I'm home alone, now, I'm always making sure he's where I can see him, just in case.

Next time call the police.

I would've, but I figured the people were relatives who were bringing in a present so the neighbors would be cheered up after they came back from the funeral. After all, they didn't break any glass to get in, the neighbors left the back door open.

My neighbors are very old people, by the way.

Have you at least given a statement to the police, like the kind of truck they were driving, colour, discription of the people, etc?

Do you happen to live in the Toronto area?

Cause I recall hearing something about a house being robbed while the family was at a funeral.

That's pretty low.

peewee 08-23-2003 06:47 AM

I told my parents, but all I knew was it was a red truck, they had parked with the front of the truck facing me, and I didn't want to watch them, incase they might see me, so I couldn't see the license without going outside.

I don't live in Toronto.

If I saw something creepy going on next door with people going in and out of an empty house, I'd sure as fuck grab my camera. Even if it came to nothing, better safe than sorry.

it's beyond sad, but i was recently alerted to the disgusting fact that scumbags do check the obituaries in newspapers to note when funerals are & people aren't home!

if your beloved ones die, get a neighbor or friend to watch/sit in your home whilst you attend the emotional memorial services.

I have a cat and he freaks out all of my friends that come over for the first time... The other day i brought a date to my house and i went to the bath room so she sat on my couch... i was peeing when all of a sudden i hear the girl scream "Stop IT!"... It seems my cat was staring at her and when she threw a pillow at him he didn't even blink... Freaky eh? what do u have to say to that?

Pendejadiota 09-01-2003 03:54 PM

holy crap.i can just imagine.that is pretty wierd.well anyways my mom said that when i was a baby and she would do the laundry she would see me playin with nothing.like if i was trying to touch something invisible, trying to play with it.she says that at the same time i was laughing.and i was in the laundry room with her, and an open window was like 3 feet above me.But what really "bakes my noodle"(as the oracle once said) is that my grampa died a week before this incident.

As to the cat: A lot of animals, aside from having especially good hearing, sense vibrations far better than people do (and if your cat is deaf, it would probably be used to sensing vibrations to "hear" things.

As to the robbery: Yeah, robbing someone's house during a funeral is low and sick, there are low and sick people out there. Either have a friend watch the house or even call the cops, depending where you live, they may watch the area.

Maybe vibrations?

Their ears are really sensitive..
