Watering eyes

Am I the only one who, when reading/thinking/talking about paranormal stuff finds their eyes watering for some reason?

I'm not a huge believer or anything, and I've never seen anything, but I find the whole paranormal thing interesting, and for some reason when I'm thinking about paranormal stuff my eyes go all watery... it's weird.

Loup 08-03-2003 09:10 AM

Whenever I watch a movie and a ghost passes by in the distance I get the watery eyes, goose bumps and the shivers. So you're not alone on this one.

AnUnkind 08-03-2003 09:38 PM

Whenever I hear anyone say something stupid my eyes water, I have no clue why. Sometimes a really stupid moment in a movie will make my eyes water too. all true.

BentNotTwisted 08-04-2003 02:11 PM

Just goose bumps and shivers for me.

08-04-2003 02:24 PM

rev_skarekroe 08-05-2003 08:51 AM

Never happened until I read this post. No I'm going to mention "yawning" as revenge. sk

tj2001cobra 08-05-2003 03:06 PM

My eyes are watering right now, but I think it is because of my allergies

My eyes water usually when someone talks about someone who has died, it's like they are in the room or something  , or maybe im just paranoid

cJoe 08-23-2003 11:45 AM

Happens to me when I watch Homeward Bound. The one with the two dogs and a cat trying to get home. Oh and when ET dies

Pendejadiota 09-02-2003 02:34 PM

Asshole Lover 09-02-2003 04:35 PM

no i get the same sensation

kewl

ratbastid 09-04-2003 06:48 PM

Eye watering is a function of the sympathetic nervous system, just like heightened heartrate, respiration and perspiration.

In other words, it's a normal part of having an elevated level of nervousness, anxiety, or even just attention.

meff 09-05-2003 07:08 PM

Lately when thinking of spicy food my mouth stings and starts watering. Same thing?

motdakasha 09-06-2003 06:00 AM

interesting stuff, ratbastid!

i, too get watery eyes. at the thought of ghosts/psychic/dead people/paranormal, discussing in real life, or even just reading about it. like the ouija thread was enough to get me watery eyed the first time i read it. it doesn't take much for me. and i get the chills too.

strangely enough, i don't react like that with touching moments in movies. and yawning reflex is mostly suppressable with me.

jimmyjammer 09-06-2003 10:00 AM

I get really really cold and shiver. Is this a sign of nervousness and anxiety as well, like watery eyes?

mackyroo 09-13-2003 09:42 AM

My eyes water everytime I read about Paranormal stuff, this whole Forum as made my water, I thought I was just weird. Thank you for posting this topic to let me know I'm not alone.

Munku 09-13-2003 10:10 AM

My eyes water when I yawn. :(

rider6061 09-17-2003 10:34 AM

I too get shivers and chills, but haven't noticed the eye thing. I will pay attention now to see if it occurs to me! I love ghost and paranormal shows...Long Live Sci-Fi channel!

radiohead 10-04-2005 12:03 AM

Watery eyes

I get watery eyes also when i'm telling a joke or story to someone or when i'm excited about something. Very annoying.

Dungeon_Shade 10-11-2005 04:58 PM

Really weird, but my eyes water when I masturbate...

Lwang9276 10-11-2005 05:15 PM

Gnoll 10-12-2005 09:42 PM

my eyes water when I wear glasses

macmanmike6100 10-13-2005 07:31 PM

could another reason be that when you're reading/watching something about the paranormal that you blink less often, and thus cause your eyes to water? happens to me when gaming.

5757 10-13-2005 11:23 PM

...

:hmm: Very strange. My eyes water when I'm sad and thats about it. Or when I lay on my side. Maybe when I'm sad or laying on my side an alien enters my body and makes my eyes watery. :hmm:

Acutsef 10-14-2005 01:50 AM

Sometimes when im mountainbiking and my foot comes loose and I slip on to the crossbar my eyes water.

plumbs 10-21-2005 03:29 PM

Yes, my eyes water EVERY TIME I read something scary that's paranormal or something paranormal in general.

Like when I first watched the Barton Masion video, i was pretty much crying.

threefourteen 12-30-2009 06:06 PM

mine usually water when I talk about something I care deeply about. People think I am crying but it lets me know that I am onto something that I care about. This also happens when I watch Ghosthunters- but ONLY on really good episodes. Watching the one with the Manson Killing of Sharon tate now and my eyes are going crazy.

Jetée 12-30-2009 07:39 PM

my eyes are getting bleary as I type this right now; not sure if it's because I'm tired 'cause of the hour, sick 'cause of the times and windy weather, or what, but it is some kind of acute timing I do possess.

I have sensitive eyes (and a real aversion / developing phobia about anything whatsoever that may disturb them in any way). my eyes water for a variety of reasons, perhaps too many for me to account for, and sometimes I don't even pick up on it until there's a long stream coming down. same with snot and drool I guess, for some.

in particular, one thing you could stand to know about me: my skin is built for the cold, but my eyes are not. I look like I just broke up with wife or another devasting event that can make a man cry (seeing a bunny being devoured by a fox in front of you) sometimes if I walk into the wind the wrong way.

Vigilante 12-31-2009 01:18 AM

I get them sometimes when recalling a weird event, but not while the event takes place. It's not so much emotional, but rather like Rat explained, a heightened mental state.

Brandon G. 01-02-2010 09:07 AM

I've never given it much thought, but after giving the paranormal activity some thought, they do water a little. Weeeeird.
