Korean? Hehehe...wrong again! What are you...0 for 2 now?

Of course you didn't want to start an argument, you just wanted to claim someone was arrogant while stating you didn't care what anyone else thinks. Pretty much the definition of arrogance, eh?.

Sorry, I just couldn't pass up the irony in your post.

"The astronaughts wanted the flag to wave, it seems it worked to well!" wasn't the argument. The argument was that because they knew a regular flag would just stay limp, they added another pole that extended horizontally from the top of the vertical pole. This horizontal pole supported the flag, and if it is not extended all the way, then the flag will be ruffled, and look like it is waving.

I belive it did happen. But some of the movies look really fake. Like craters and mountains in the background look to be made of cardboard. And the flag looking like its waving in the wind, and the reflectons in the visor.

I just wanted to hear some ideas:

The international space station doesnt seem like a good place for stellar warfare, or even training for the new mary of fighter-astronauts trained for taking out enemy satellites or fellow floating enemies. The obvious because its international.

THe space station is for science. In my view and from what Ive heard they're repeating allot of what they did with SKYLAB. So would an international lunar base be better? WHy did exploration and research just abruptly stop?

A moon base wasn't built because it is already hard enough to build a space station.
Why should you go to Alaska to do some experiments when you can do them somewhere near home?
Furthermore most experiments require not only low gravity but very low gravity to work. What most people tend to forget is that the moon does have a gravity field even if the accelaration is only one sixth that of earth.
The russians had a very neat moon programme but dicontinued manned "deep" space exploration in favour of building space stations in orbit.
If the US hadn't really landed on the moon the russians would have known and would never have stopped their own programme.

3 things that make me think we didn't land there:
-the radiation zone you'd have to fly through between the earth and the moon would have definitely caused terminal illness' to the astronauts, yet none have developed
-why hasn't anyone been back?? Doesn't fit human nature to dicover something and than touch the surface of exploration and than just quit
-that lunar module looks like something my little brother would build! It has gold foil on it!!! Our modern shuttle has 'troubles' entering earth atmosphere due to heat /friction.....you think that little tin can of a module could handle that ok?? The thing had the aerodynamics of a barn door, which would make flying it off the moon surface near impossible....and than being able to handle re-entry into earth.....I find that very unlikely....

...if there is speculation why doesn't nasa aim the hubble telescope at the moon and show us proof to deny these false claims??? That thing could zoom right in and show the flag!

...with the times as they were, AMerican film was really in developing stages and with the cold war, the US pulled some pretty crazy stuff.....I think this was a way of showing superiority to the world.....

I believe that the moon landing actually happened, on the moon.

I also believe that some photos of the event were staged in a studio, here on Planet Earth.

Neither of these views contradict the other.

Suppose you'd spent all this money and risked human life in the process, the people you're trying to impress want more than some crappy black & white, out of focus video of the event.

Cyn, I don't believe Hubble did more than the rex pics. The pic with the buggy was from '72. Hubble can't resolve with sub-20ft detail from Earth Orbit, can it?

Hey, here's a great answer from slashdot.
Quote:
The highest resolution Hubble is capable of is 0.0072 arc-seconds.

An arc-second is defined such that a 1 meter object will appear as 1 arc-second at a distance of 206,256 meters.

The distance from Hubble (~600km orbit) to the moon (~384,400km) is ... well, about 383,800 km

So if Hubble produced an image with 1 pixel-per-arcsecond resolution, a pixel would be 1.86 kilometers. But the highest resolution is 0.0072 arc-seconds, or about 140 times better than that.

So the smallest object Hubble can see on the moon is 13 meters wide.

Neither the lander module or the rover are that big. Not even close. Good luck finding something that's less than a pixel wide!
=Smidge=
Anyway there's supposed to be an EU satellite going into moon orbit next year. Part of their plan is to check out old landing zones. We should hear the end of this stuff soon.

Now, just imagine the swarming theories should the EU sat suffer any failure.

And if it does fail, then the USA (or some higher secretive power) sabotaged it.
