Does anyone here listen to George Noory's show...just wondering.....
|
Not any more, but I used to listen to Art Bell, wow some of those people would make me laugh. My father listened to Bell a lot more than I did. He said that there were two interviews with Michio Kaku, a modern day physicist I happen to respect.
|
I they have it on until 9 AM on XM 165. I've been listening on the way in to work lately.
|
I enjoy listening to it when I'm up that late. I love how the hosts let people talk about anything no matter how insane it is or sounds. I don't know of any forum that large other than the internet to discuss such topics.
|
It depends on who they have as guests. I usually like to listen if they have scientists covering areas I find interesting. Or journalists or whistleblowers of conspiracies. Engineers also provide an interesting listen. They dont happen very often but when they have guests that debate two sides of heated topics those shows are usually the best.
Im not into hearing the shows about witchcraft, bigfoot, the lochness monster, chubacobbras, and similiar. |
It doesn't seem to be the way it used to be. I used to listen to it almost every night a few years ago. I loved the stories and just the weird things people talked about.
I started listening to it again recently on XM. It doesn't seem to be the same. Either that or I tune in when they are having the political talks. I think it has lost some of it's flair since Art Bell left. |
When Art Bell hosted the show, it was a true practice of freedom of speech. There were real times it was a threat to national secrets. It was exciting and made me anxious, nervous just listening to some of the things on there. Now, it's pretty ho-hum. It's lost all of its punch and is now just a show on late at night. There's nothing special about it. Noory wanted to make it more mainstream. I guess he didn't "get it". The appeal of the show was that it wasn't mainstream. It was different. And, now it's not.

... I didn't believe Bell was ever a threat to national security. While his show was provoking and at times informative, clearly Bell exercised his freedom of speech, he still felt like a modern Orson Welles. The frequent use of being "taken down" by someone cutting power lines or some-such method felt exactly the same to me as The War of the Worlds broadcast.
If the government or any shadow organization wanted his broadcast to be taken down, THEY would have used better methods to terminate Bell's voice. Think about it, this would be the same shadowy men that cover up aliens, abductions, government conspiracies, and human experimentation. Wouldn't their resources be better used by eliminating him in botched up bank robbery or fatal traffic accident? Less suspicious and far more effective than simply "cutting the power lines." |
It's gotten very political. I agree with Kid above, when Art hosted it was a free for all and people were allowed to talk and be free. Now, Noory cuts people off and doesn't seem to be as caring or as liberal in allowing the callers to say what they want.
I loved the show, but it has become too politically one sided and what attracted me when Art Bell had the show is no longer there. |
If the gov't just had Bell vanish or be killed, wouldn't that just be feeding the fires? He wasn't a risk to national security. Most people didn't believe in Art or the show so he wasn't worth taking down yet. However, he was getting some mainstream attention for what he was doing.
Noory screens his calls. He fears risk. He plays it safe every time. His show sucks. It is political now and I am conservative, but I don't love the government like he does. I rarely agreed with Art Bell politically, but it didn't matter. Art Bell's show wasn't political. |
Art Bell was awesome. I can't even pick up a station that carries it any more, though, and it's not that much of a disappointment. Listening to the crazies was more fun than the plausible stuff at times.
