Sexy Singers

No, I'm not talking about pop stars. Or sewing machines, for that matter.

I'm currently listening to Diana Krall. She's got an amazingly sexy voice, very lounge singer/bedroom sort of tone so that even if she wasn't good looking (which she is) it'd still get my motor revving.

Anyone have a singer who they think has a particularly sexy voice? Or rather, since I imagine everyone does, care to name one?

Diana Krall is amazing on every level. She makes my everything tingle.

I'd add...
Jack Johnson when he sings me "sexy plexi"
Barry White for some old school sexy growl
Brandon Whats-his-name from Incubus
And that kid from Lifehouse has an amazingly sexy voice.
All the guys from Seven Nations. It's the kilts.
Bono
G. Love
Peter Gabriel
Gillian Fiddler-chick
and Joss Whozit.

(i'm embracing my horrible memory with famous peoples' names)

I've only heard a couple of Diana Krall songs that I like (but I greatly favor jazz instrumentals over jazz vocals, so that sways my opinion). But Bjork was the first name that jumped into my head when I saw this thread, and upon further thought none other comes close to me. I imagine that her voice would've been what Odysseus heard from the sirens.

I've always had a thing for Cher. Back in the day when she was on "Sonny and Cher" and "The Cher Show."

Anyways, I would have to go for Kelly Clarkson. Theres just something about her. Her songs are catchy and I'm not into women singers. I don't own any of her records, but I'm always kinda singing along. I know she isn't the most beautiful, but shes more real? I don't know how to word it. Like, maybe I could bang her. I don't know.....

EDIT: oops! I think Kellys pop.

I love Dwight Yoakam's voice. I don't listen to much country, but there is just something about his voice that gives me the shivers.

Norma Winstone has a very sexy voice in case anyone gets a chance to check her out (she's obscure and hard to find - a jazz vocalist).

Can't let this thread go further without a mention of Annie Lennox. Some lungs on that woman!

Not a nightclub jazz sexy, but Sarah McLachlan's voice can do me anytime.

Chrissie Hynde.

Norah Jones.

On the subject of sexy singers, I have talked a little bit online to Mandy Moore... I suppose she's pretty sexy.

(I can't believe I am saying this but...) I agree with Alansmithee, Bjork's voice is the voice of the sirens... When I first heard it (on the Sugarcube's Life's Too Good - I can still remember where I was and when) I had to listen to it over and over again.

I can't think of anyone else who comes close to the majic of her voice.

Dr. Simone passed away after a long illness at her home in her villa in Carry-le-Rouet (South of France) on April 21, 2003. As she had wished, her ashes were spread in different African countries.
It's too bad. She had a truly individual voice.

Joe Cocker - that bluesy, growly voice and the intensity he puts into every song he sings is magnetic and irresistable to me.

Love Sade's voice for exactly the opposite reason - it's smooth and mellow and soothing

when i was a teenager it was mariah..but i think its only cos i had a huge crush on her as a school kid. now id rather something more subdued and classy..both of which norah and diana fit into this category.

if i say Dave Matthews, no one will smack me, right? when he gets all slow and growly I feels a little tingle in me nether regions.

I'll second and triple Bjork, Annie Lennox and Shirley Manson. And add the lead vocalist for Afro Celt Sound System, Trent Reznor, and the Concrete Blonde sound a la Everybody Knows.

Mariah... She is, or at least was gorgeous, but that damn New Jersey disco-queen accent is like nails on a chalkboard to me, plus I hate her shrieking. She's pretty enough, but just can't bear her w/ her mouth open...

Siobhan Fahey and Marcella Detroit of Shakespear's Sister great vocalists and together magic.

Shania Twain has a unique sexy voice.

And as for male singers, Sinatra and Martin wow, to have half their talent would probably get me laid daily.
