Sigur Ros - Takk
The first single, Glósóli from Sigur Ros' latest CD Takk has been released, which is coming out on September 12th. I must say, thus far I am very pleased with what I've heard from the leak of this CD, and cannot wait to get it in a couple weeks. Anyone else excited for Takk? I must say, I was disappointed with (). It's not that I didn't like it, it's just that it was no Agaetis Byrjun in terms of listenability, for my at least. The fact that Takk seems to have so much more piano and less hopelandic is good news for all of us Any other Sigur Ros fans here? Any post rock fans in general? |

I agree with you about (). It was very repetitive, both lyrically and melodically. Agaetis Byrjun is a classic and would be tough to top. I'm' not sure when the release date is in the US for this one. I know, for example, that the new Starsailor CD is coming out in September in the UK but not till January in the US

I enjoyed () even though I'm also not a fan of the Hopelandic nonsense. The lyrics on Agaetis Byrjun are pretty amazing even in translated form, so I'm not sure why the band has decided to abandon that.
Even though they've gone back to writing in Icelandic for the new album, it sounds like they are still trying to make the meaning of the song as vague and open to interpretation as possible. Personally, I prefer when a band has something to say and says it, but there is certainly a place for music like this as well. |
