Brian Johnson is GOOD, but he's just not GREAT like Bon was. He's a good replacement, he meshes with the band well, but it's not the same as having Bon around.

It's gotta be Bon Scott.
Brian was great on 'Back in black' but it's gone downhill over the last Twenty years.

It doesn't really matter. AC/DC has made the same album 20 times regardless of the singer. Although, they're the only band besides Motorhead that can get away with that

May I suggest to all those who never got to see Bon in concert that you load up Kazaa (lite of course) or some other P2P prog and DL "ACDC - 1977 full concert" Bon and Angus in their prime ripping the fuckin roof off London’s Hammersmith Odeon.

Man I'd give my left nut just to hear Bon sing Hells Bells or F.T.A.T.R.

Both of their voices fit into the group perfectly. Was a damn shame when Bon died. I really have to hand it to Brian though... how many groups have survived the loss of a lead singer to go on and become even more popular with a new singer. Met Brian and the boys backstage in L.A. awhile back. They seemed to be pleasant enough.

If you're forcing me to pick it would also be Brian Johnson. But I like both.

Brian's voice is just a bit stronger in a way. May be the fact that Back in Black was my first AC/DC album biased me a bit.

Brian Johnson (Hear me out)

I've gotta make this test fair by judging on the voices heard when both singers were at there prime. Brian Johnson was just awesome on back in black and i think he was the only man to be able to do it that well. so he gets my vote, tho Bon scott is a great singer.

Throw my hat in with Bon Scott.

That's in keeping with "Whole lotta Rosie" being my favorite AC/DC tune.

I voted for Bon Scott.

I think a lot of the material for back in black was written before Bon Scott died, which is why it sounded better.

Johnson is the better singer of the two, but Scott wrote more interesting lyrics and had more variety in his delivery.

Well, an economist has done a 'test' that says Brian Johnson is better:

http://www.smh.com.au/news/music/sci...462266169.html

Quote:
ONE was an Australian larrikin famous for his hard drinking and hellraising, the other is an Englishman famous for wearing a flat cap and recording the landmark Back in Black album.

The AC/DC singers Bon Scott and Brian Johnson have both made an enormous impact but debate has raged for years over who was the better frontman.

Now an economist has come up with an answer in a paper titled On the Efficiency of AC/DC: Bon Scott versus Brian Johnson. Robert Oxoby, of the Behavioural and Experimental Economics Laboratory at the University of Calgary, played a group of students Scott's rendition of It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock'n'Roll) and Johnson's Shoot to Thrill in separate listening sessions.

Rather than focusing on "the aural or sonic quality of the vocalists' performances", Dr Oxoby wanted to ascertain how the two performances influenced the students' decision-making. More specifically, he was testing the effect the two voices had on the choices of people distributing and requesting money.

The results will dismay fans of Scott, who died in London in 1980 at the age of 33 after choking on his vomit, and delight supporters of Johnson, who replaced him at the microphone the same year.

"Our analysis suggests that in terms of affecting efficient decision-making among listeners, Brian Johnson was a better singer," wrote Dr Oxoby, who admits the issue of vocal quality may never be resolved, even by economists.

Sceptics who feel that the university's resources might be put to better use are missing the wider implications.

"Our analysis has direct implications for policy and organisational design: when policymakers or employers are engaging in negotiations and are interested in playing the music of AC/DC, they should choose from the band's Brian Johnson era discography," Dr Oxoby wrote. His paper was published earlier this year, but is only now receiving wider attention.
