Matchbox 20

I did a search and couldn't find any topic related to Matchbox 20, so I figured I'd post one here.

What are everyone's thoughts on Matchbox 20? I for one love their music. It's one of the only bands that I can listen to, and enjoy, the entire CD.

Rob Thomas has a killer voice, and it inspires me to sing more. Whenever I'm out doing karaoke (often enough I must say) I always find myself singing "Bright Lights" and sometimes "Push".

Given that Rob Thomas has done his solo project, he still fully intends to work with Matchbox 20 and continue making records with them, which I think is awesome, because I didn't care too much for his solo album.

Discuss!

i really liked their first album, but never listen to their other ones. i couldn't name a song of their's that wasn't on the first album. if they do get together for another album, i hope that they go back to sounding like their first album.

You should seriously consider listening to their album called "More Than You Think You Are". That's my favorite album of theirs. With songs like "Bright Lights" (my favorite Matchbox 20 song) and Unwell, it's awesome.

I've never been a fan to tell you the truth. I don't know what it is about Robb Thomas, but I really don't like his style at all. Don't get me wrong, he has a great voice and all, but something about his music rubs me the wrong way.

Yeah I'm a big fan. I haven't been able to pick up more than their first album but I have kept up with everything they've done and I love their music. Bright Lights is probably my favorite song too. I'm always singing 3AM at Kareoke, if I saw Bright Lights I'd sing that too. I too dunno what the hell Rob was thinking with that solo work. I heard the album, one or two standout tracks that were actually pretty good but nothing compared to what he's done with Matchbox 20.

Yeah the video is terrible. I dunno what the hell he was thinking. I listened to the album though. It has a few ballads that actually sound really good. Doubt good enough to make me actually wanna buy the thing though. I'm glad he's still gonna work with Matchbox 20 because that single is just depressing.

I'm certainly not judging anyones taste here, but when Matchbox 20 comes on the radio, I immediately lunge for the radio to change the channel. It's a reflex. I find the lead singer's voice affected and shmaltzy. I also find their songs repetitive and overlong.

This goes double for those Santana tunes featuring Rob T.

To each his own I guess.

I really like "Long Day", still. All else I've heard (the rest of the first album, most of the second and third and that "Smooth" song) I no longer care for.

I think Matchbox Twenty has some good pop-rock songs. "Bright Lights" is probably my favorite.
