Where can I find music like this?
Ok, so I cut out a small part of this song so you guys can hear it:
EDIT: Sample taken down for bandwith. The song is a remix of a video game song- don't worry, it's public domain. Remixes can't be copywritten as the remixer doesn't own the original rights. Anyway, I was wondering if you guys knew of any music or artists that sound like this? I really like this type of sound! It makes me feel like I'm in the middle ages. My music history doesn't cover things of that era though (It's more of a modern stereotype really. Music didn't really sound like this back then). At any rate, I havn't had any luck finding things that sound as soothing as this. I'd really like to find more. Just a note: I'll take down the link after a while so not to get in trouble for eating up my school's bandwith. |
I don't know how the original sounded, but maybe you can check out OCRemix.com (url tool not working, sorry) for other remixes on that song/game.

I should clarify though, I'm not looking for the original- I ripped this from the original. I'm looking for music that is of this genre- things that sound like it, same instruments, etc. I don't know what this would fall under so I wouldn't know where to begin looking. |
Off topic but still an important point:

So remixes and covers are still copyrighted just using a different form. However, your posting the sample here would most likely be protected under the fair use law. You are asking a question about a song to provoke discussion. On topic: These are similar to what you might like Mannheim Steamroller: Fresh Aire Loreena Mckennitt Or go to the library and check out Renaissance music or Music from the Middle Ages. Doug Edited becaus I forgot my UNQUOTE statement. |
I think it is vaguley simlar to Brian Eno's - Music For Airports - mainly some sparse piano with some nicely layered ambient textures thrown in. If you took the "gamey" uptempo feel out of the sample tune i think it'd sound sorta like this ie Music For Airports.
Anyway it's a very relaxing and nice album in it's own right! 4 12 minute songs or so :D |
If you're looking for video game music of that type, I highly suggest pretty much anything Zelda.
www.vgmix.com is a great site for remixed video game songs, and here is one that I've found that you may like. Its one of my fav's. http://www.vgmix.com/song_view.php?song_id=3388 Just click download near the top of the page. Good luck :) |
Thanks guys for the suggestions, I'll definatly test them out. I"m going to take down the sample now though, 60 some views is enough for me.
Church: Yes, Zelda! Koji Kondo is one of my favorite composers. Oh, and I'm a remixer at VGMix :P |
