Need a Song!

Hey Again,

I need a song about moving on. Like you've out grown where you are and you're ready to take that next step into a new world. Slow to medium pace type of song. Any genre will be good.

I'm making a video about how a beach how that my family has owned since forever and now we're selling it. Taking all of the photos and putting them to music, but I can't think of a song.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Perhaps Oasis, "Rockin' Chair". It's a bit sad, though.

The Verve Pipe - "Gotta Move On"? Also a bit melancholy.

Styx's Sail Away is always a good one.

I'm still having a little trouble nailing down what mood you are looking for. I'm assuming the beach house was good times with good memories. Do all the family members agree that the place is no longer useful, or is there some contention in that? Is your family replacing it with something else, or are you just splitting up the proceeds from the sale of the house?

Back Where it All Begins - Allman Brothers

Great song about moving on to new beginnings. The lines "Travel out across the burnin' sand. Cross the ocean to some distant land" seem kind of fitting for a song trying to convey that your family is moving on from a beach house to other things.

Quote:

Say you want to be a rolling stone
Get your sail out in the wind
Get out on the highway and let 'er roll on
Roll on back to someplace you ain't never been
Hey, hey

When I was younger I was hard to hold
Seem like I was always goin'
Which ever way the wind would blow
Now that travelin' spirit calls me again
Callin' me back to where it all begins

Moon rise and sun go down
Turn my whole world around
Little star up in the sky
Tell my sweet baby please don't cry
Please don't cry

(SOLO)

Moon rise and sun go down
Turn my whole world around
Little star up in the sky
Tell my sweet baby please don't cry
Please don't cry

Travel out across the burnin' sand
Cross the ocean to some distant land
We'll reach the end we'll all be singin'
and we'll all be friends
Back where it all begins
Back where it all begins
Amazon's got a clip here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...music&n=507846

Problem is that it clocks in at just over 9 minutes. Might be a bit too long.

Whenever I'm about to move on (from high school, for example), I always think of Green Day's Time of Your Life.

You realize that the song title is actually "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)"? Kind of puts a different spin on the lyrics...

We're getting another house. Our family has out-grown this house. Too small for us and visitors to stay in. Great memories of the home. Its just time to move on.

Really? Hm... Well, either way, it applies to high school. :p
