Robert Plant - Mighty Rearranger
Anyone got their hands on a copy yet? Comes out May 10, have a connection with the local CD store. Just picked it up today and am making my way through it. Definitely would classify it as alternative, almost bordering into world music on some tracks. He isn't trying to hit his old notes from the Led days, but his wail/scream is still there. Recommend picking it up or just having a listen.

He really seems to have become a tenor since Led Zeppelin, which is ironic since most older guys lose that range. I just remember on songs like Since I've Been Loving You, he used to be in falsetto for a while, but now he's got this really sincere head voice. I definitely like his new single, and yeah, he's really into Moroccan and other non-western musics.

I saw him on Letterman the other night. Some song about "Shine" I didn't like it as much as Zep but his voice still sounds good. I'll have to check this album out.

I don't know, with the song that I've heard on the good ole radio. Shine it all around.... it seems alright, but I will pick it up because some of the greatest songs I have ever heard are the least popular ones.

If any of you are really into Zeppelin, I just picked up a copy of a Black Crowes + Jimmy Page Live at the Greek Theater. They do all Led Zeppelin covers. If there is one guy who can copy Robert Plant, Chris Robinson does a mighty fine job. He doesn't try to sound like Plant. He just imbues the music with passion in a similar fashion to how Plant did. It's a wonderful 2 disc album, and I recommend checking it out.

^ Oh hell yes I'm checking that out!! I love Chris Robinson..he's one of my favorite frontmen/vocalists.
I heard some songs off the album the other day at Walmart. Pretty mellow tunes...one sounded like it rocks but I only got to hear small samples. Next time I'm at a Borders I'll have to see if they have the album up for listening. Asta!!

I heard that new Plant song on TV last night. He's sounding pretty good, but the song itself didn't inspire me. Parts of it were cool, the drum line and the guitar crunch, but I found my mind wandering to considering the carpet he was standing on to sing... wondering how long he's had it, and what it's seen...
That Black Crowes/Zep thing sounds good... I'm sure I heard of it a while back, but still have yet to hear it. Of I go in search... |

I'm a bit disappointed. Seems a little heavy on the Moroccan influence which has been a large part of much of his solo work over the past 10 years or so. I keep waiting for a heavier rock sound from him but I know his voice can't handle that range any more. Looking forward to seeing him in Philly and Vegas this summer- I put out major bucks but got some primo seats. I think probably his last tour.
