I'm somewhere in between. I dig the new song but it does sound a bit uninspired. I'm a big fan so I'm looking forward to the new record regardless. I didn't like Cochise when it first came out and it turned out to be my least favorite song off the album. Hopefully that will be the case again.

Just did, thanks for the recommend I love their energy. The Morello/Cornell combo is absolutely great. Okay, I'm more excited about the album now. Thanks Pain Train!

I actually haven't had the opportunity to listen to audioslave's non-singles on their older album, but I do enjoy their singles.
Be yourself - it's fair. I like instrumentals during the chorus, but the one guitar riff seems like they completely ripped it off of 'wicked games' by chris isaak

Temple of the Dog was great too. Chris Cornell just kicks ass, I think that's the bottom line.

One of the greatest regrets I have is passing up the opertunity to see their show in Chicago (I'm around the northern suburbs). I bought their self-titled album about two months ago, and it is probably the most played CD for 2005 thus far in my year. I am typically a 60's or 70's rock and roll guy (Stones, Zep, Faces, etc), but this band opened my eyes to a lot of Rage Against the Machine I would have normally dismissed. I would probably recommend anyone to check out Audioslave. I took the recommendation, and I turned out liking every song on the album.

I picked it up the day it came out. I have to say its a awsome 2nd album for these guys!
I find it to be a better blend this time around. Has some great Rage solo's and awsome lyrical voice of soundgarden mixed in nice and sweet. I give it 4 stars outa 5! Just cause i miss Zack :< Hope you all are enjoying it. |

cornell's voice is strained and weak.
the rhythm section has none of the spark and groove they used to. sure brad was never a fantastic drummer, but he was always at least more creative than these songs. and tim, what happened to his funk? root note. root note. root note. and let's not even start on tom. what used to be simple, melodic, but percussive playing has turned into boring, predictable and re-used. I used to drool, wondering what his nextwacky solo would sould like, but every audioslave song(with the exception of like a stone) was something heard before. He can't write catchy riffs anymore. i heard a few demos and leaked stuff when they were "civilian", and it was quite a bit better than anything they've released. much better name too. |
