The Mars Volta
Has anyone else heard their new cd ? (its out on mirc i know ) Its called De-Loused In The Comatorium, its their first full length release. I got it last night..... wow. I havent been this blown away since i heard kid A or el cielo. Just a masterpiece of modern music.
Im sure most people arent goin to enjoy it... which i like. however i know this board has many, lets say musically 'enlightened' listeners... If anyone is fed up with music today and enjoys a very VERY eclectic album thats just mind blowing..... give it a shot, or anything by the volta. Truly amazing. This is the kind of band who could save modern music.....

I got this album today, and I love it. This is saying a lot for me, because it's totally not the style of music that I normally listen to. I'm mainly into the really heavy stuff, like Sepultura, Children of Bodom, Dying Fetus, Slipknot, etc... But De-Loused in the crematorium is just an excellent album, genres aside.

I heard the song "Drunkship of Lanterns" on a college radio station and I was totally blown away. I prayed that they would say the bands name, but they only said the name of the song. I scribbled it down and went to Google as soon as I went home.

Got it while I was in Rhode Island, and loving it. Very refreshing piece of work they made.
Favorite songs on the album: Televators This apparatus must be unearthed Inertiatic ESP Also side question: What does their former band, At the Drive In sound like? for whatever reason I can't find it in stores near me.

At The Drive-In sounds like punk rock filtered through Rage Against the Machine. "Arc Arsenal," "One-Armed Scissor," and "Cosmonaut" are favorites of mine.
Beware, though, that Bixler's voice is much more rough around the edges than with Volta.. I think he took voice lessons after he left ATDI, because his delivery often devolves in ragged shouting on the ATDI stuff. It's also a lot less experimental, and there's no Santana influence or Led Zepplin tributage.

It's the best cd I've ever heard. I've had a constant boner since June when it came out.
