Jeff Buckley

I dont know if any of you have heard of Jeff Buckley before but he is quite cool. I was talkin with a guy in a forum and he introduced me to his music. I have no idea how to describe his music but he is very talented guitar player and singer ( his voice can reach four octaves), I guess you could say its close to classic rock but it isnt really ever hard rock. I would recommend "buying" the album "Grace" and "Live at Sin-E". Apparently right when he was about to go really big he drowned while swimming in Wolf River, Memphis, TN at age 30.

So yeah... check him out, can anyone recommend other JB albums?

I absolutely love the song "hallelujah" by him. The way he sings is just full of emotion and it just hits the right stop i think. I need to check out his other stuff

Do you by chance have an "address" where I might "buy" his music for my torrent player? :)

go to http://www.jeffbuckley.com and click on the Peyote Radio Theater link. It'll let you listen to the full tracks from all of his albums i believe.
If you like it, buy the album. It's worth it, trust me.

In addition to the recommendations by FloydianOne, I'd add "Mystery White Boy" as a good first album to listen to.

I love Jeff Buckley..."Grace" is definitely an album to buy and have. His version of "Hallelujah" is by far my favorite, and his voice is just amazing.

It's one of those albums where regardless of my mood I can listen to it. It's just that fantastic that it works all the time, every time.

The first time I heard the song Hallelujah was on the season finale of The West Wing from season3 I beleive. The music just so perfectly fit the scenes that were being played.

Haunting is the first word that comes to mind for the opening chords and I absolutely love his voice... I have never heard the original version of the song, but I've heard other covers of it,and they are no where near as good as Buckleys.

IT's just a beautiful song and he was quite a talent.

Live at Sin-E is a great album

He's got another song, The Last Goodbye, ,which Nathalie Merchant has covered... Listen to both versions... decide for yourself which version is better

Love Jeff Buckley, such a great artist, Grace is a great album from start to finish not a weak link on the album. I can't really pick a favorite as I enjoy all of his music equally.

I think "Everybody Wants You" is my favorite Buckley song.

I can't believe I havent written in this thread yet. I heard about Buckley some time ago, I beleive it was on a Radiohead message board. Anyhow after that I have gotten all I can of his music. Grace, Live at Sin-E and the Live at Chicago DVD. As with everyone else, I find his voice wonderous. His song writing is also unique as it just seems to flow where it may, really a vehicle to compliment his powerful voice. And to this day I will say that the song Grace is the best pop song ever written.

I was there at the foot of Beale St. when they pulled him out of the water. It was probably the most surreal thing I have ever witnessed. I happened to be downtown that day. I was eating lunch at a restaurant called Cafe Samovar when some guy came in and said he heard that they found Jeff Buckley. We walked down to Beale and then down to the river.

There was a riverboat anchored about 25 feet away ... all the tourists standing there watching as the cops waited for the coroner.

The symbolism is almost perfect.

Just managed to find a discography, great stuff has all the rare tracks, plus the Sony Recording Studio sessions, and all the albums on it. A buddy introduced me to Jeff's music and still I can't describe it, when people ask what kind of music it is I simply say it's Jeff Buckley. Thats still the only way I can describe it.

Just seeing this thread made me put Grace on, absolutely love that album, the songs are just...beautiful, amazing voice, great guitars. Perfect :)

Its one album I force myself to not sing along to, my voice really just spoils the feel of it
