The Cardiacs
I've recently gotten into this group, Cardiacs, after being utterly blown away by their "Guns" album. Now I've just obtained three more of their albums - "Sing to God, Part 2" (part 1 is on the way), "Songs for Ships and Irons", and "On Land and In The Sea".
I can best describe their style as a fusion of progressive rock, punk, and just plain random wackiness. Its really hard to give an accurate description - often it feels like someone is twiddling the tuning knob on the receiver, making their music change rapidly. Better to hear for yourself. They have quite a few good tracks for download here: http://www.cardiacs.com/sounds.html Heartily recommended. Anyone know other bands with such "twistedness"? |
I think I have heard of this band but i just cant put a finger on why?
can you name a couple of their popular songs? which they are known for. |
Oh gosh... the extent to which I know this band is limited entirely to my direct listening to their music. I have no clue what's considered popular these days... only what I like. I have not heard of this band EVER before, aside from that one reference somewhere on another forum. After listening to some samples, I was hooked.
It was a recommendation for their latest album, Guns, which the post was about, so perhaps it was something off that album that you've heard - they are obviously marketing it... though how, I am not quite sure. Any of the samples ring a bell? Besides that, they've got music published since the 70's, so it is just as likely that you have heard something earlier by them... Oh, and I've just received the rest of my order... they are as awesome as I expected and more so. I can't even recommend one album over the others... I love them all! |
hhmm.. thx anyways, this is gonna bug me lol.. must go hunting!!
