If you like hip-hop...

and violins, keep your eyes open for "Nothing But Strings". They do not currently have a record deal or anything that I know of, but I hope they do. They performed on Leno (I think it was on Thursday/yesterday) and they were amazing. They're a pair of hip-hop violinists. Also, if you live in NYC they play on the C-train and the A-train (whatever the hell that is).

String instruments are extremely underrated on hip hop tracks..."Reunited" by Wu-Tang and "Street's Disciple" by Nas... a few tracks that come to mind as far as strings that compliment the artist's flow really well...

I missed Nothing but Strings too...anywhere you can D/L their tracks???

I'll put a cross-reference in this thread to the Youngblood Brass Band, which has two vocalists, three trumpets, two trombones, a sax, a sousaphone, and two percussionists. Great brass band sound like the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, plus hiphop vocals on half the tracks. There's seven free downloads available on their site.

I am not a hiphop fan, but I'm enjoying this one.

Damn, When I started reading this thread, I was going to reccomend the Youngblood Brass Band. Their CD is awesome.

Another good download would be "Journey to Anywhere" or "A Little Samba" by Ugly Duckling"
