1 - Listen to the album with headphones. They pan James completely to one side and Kirk to the other, and it's pretty easy to hear that they are playing different things. 2 - Unless Metallica plans to just play songs from St. Anger when they tour, then I think Kirk would pretty useful to have around to play the solos from the other songs in their repertoire.

I think the St. Anger song on the radio now is shit.
I've never been a big Metallica fan, but the last two albums have been listenable. Lars is a good drummer, but I wish he'd shut the hell up. And the rest of them have turned into elderly rock poseurs. Hang it up guys, let's get some new blood out there. Don't you have enough money yet? |

well the whole meaning of this poll was to ask what people think of metallica's new album, so............whats the big deal with people saying they dont like metallica?

Anyone notice that on many songs Lars chose to take the "snare" off of his snare drum? Thus, the sound thtat some have described as "banging on a garbage can". I like the album, but that was a bad decision by Lars

ok. now that it's out, what's your opinion?
I'm 32, had the master ofm puppets picture disc (LP), won tickets on the radiom for the justice for all tour, loved every album, blah blah blah... that said, not one song on the album has caught my attention. Maybe it's me. Anybody else feel this way?

just saw this post and just saw Metallica play live the other day...this album is raw [under-produced on purpose ...], hard and AWESOME!!!! and they are still the best live band ever!!!!
I realize not everyone likes Metallica nd I respect that--I even respect that some people late to the game only know Metallica s the band that plays stuff from LOad and Unload [good, but not the heaviest of stuff by the kings of speed-metak...I even try to respect that some long-time fans decided since they are popular now they suck [although I don't understand that one bit...to me people just caught up to the band not the other way around and I saw them playing in the clubs in 1984]... But to not give the album a chance [whcih many people have] or to write Metallica off for no good reason or never see them perform live--I can't give that any respect...

Everyone is intitled to their opinion of Metallica, and/or their music. I personaly am not totaly thrilled with every aspect of the new CD, but I have kept an open mind to except some aspects as positive. I have not changed my opinion of Metallica, and still like them. I also respect their desire to change, even if I may not like the path they have chosen at this point of their careers. Now.. My problem is, why do people wish to make inapropriate comments about someones sexual orientation, just because they don't like them, don't know anything about them, or when the conversation doesn't even warrent such comments?..

To everyone his own Doc.
As to the making fun of people by calling them gay, i think thats really childish and makes the person look like an ignorant fool for saying it.

Yeah I bought the album just because I used to like them before the Load bullshit...just to see if they had changed. Its different than that crap, but its still not very good. I've just been so disappointed with the album. I guess I will still keep listening to Ride the Lightning.

based on the song st. anger alone, i'm disappointed. mind you, some elements of that song are awesome, but overall metallica completely let me down. i'm starting to be more open-minded to groups i disliked before, such as linkin park, and appreciate what's good in their music, but i hold metallica to a much higher standard.

St. Anger has some damn good songs. Frantic and Some Kind of Monster are my favorites. They still remain the best band out there for me. The only other bands that have came close are REM, Tom Petty, Creed, Stone Temple Pilots, Staind, and a few others that I don't feel like mentioning. I can see how some people wouldn't like St. Anger but I personally love it. It was the first CD I ever bought.

i find myself going back to this CD when I am driving. I tend to listen to just 4 or 5 songs though. My favorite is "Shoot Me Again".

This album is fighting with Six Feet Under's Graveyard Classics for most unintentionally hilarious album ever. St. Anger is just awful. Anyone who said Metallica couldn't get any worse after Load and Reload have been proved wrong by this steaming pile of shit. From the shitty "production" to the idiotic lyrics to the ultra repetative and unimaginative riffing this album simply blows!
