House Party - Playlist Suggestions.
Hey everyone. My roomates and I have recently purchased our first home together and we throwing a party to celebrate out "homeownership." Anyways, we are in need of some tracks to get our party bumpin'. Basically we are looking for rap or rock music that will create a good party atmosphere.
The party atmosphere will probably be around 50 people (Ages 18-24), copious ammount of alcohol, and a space to dance. We are looking for music that has a definite "party vibe." Prferable Rap or Rock. I have already taken a look at the follow threads and gained some insight from them. http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...ht=Party+Music http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...ht=Party+Music However, I was hoping I could some specific songs from this thread. So anyways, if anyone could list soem specific songs that they feel would be good for this type of affair that would be great. Thanks in advance. |

Oh shit! Someone needs help rocking a party? Thats my line of work, baby. We need to get started with: What kinds of people are going to be there. What do they listen to? The best way to go is to start with what they will probably want, and push it over the top... tease at what they expect, but then throw something in the mix that'll drop jaws. Give me what you think would be safe terrain, and i'll see what i can hook up to add some flair.

the following is a hip hop mix I've made that seems to get good reactions at parties. The variety of songs is pretty random, but I wasn't trying to convey any particular emotion or mood with the selection. It's just good music to have running in the background while you're getting inebriated.
Talib Kweli - Down For the Count Atmosphere - Tears for the Sheep Blueprint feat. The Orphanage - Obsolete Notorious BIG - Dead Wrong Living Legends feat. Slug - Night Prowler Dre - What's the Difference Gangstarr - Above the Clouds Souls of Mischief - 93' Til Infinity Dre - Nothin But A G Thang Sage Francis - Inherited Scars Atmosphere - Scapegoat Mobb Deep - Shook Ones p.2 Atmosphere - The Woman With The Tatooed Hands Sage Francis - Different Blackstar - Thieves in the Night Blackalicious - Make You Feel That Way

I find Janet Jackson...especially older Janet (Rhythm Nation, Janet) is great for getting a party started. Throw in a couple songs from when you and the other attendees were in middle school for some fun.
For my parties, I usually put together a mix of pop, R&B and peppy modern rock--so Justin Timberlake, the Killers, Christina Aguilera, Destiny's Child, etc. I also throw in some fun songs like "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye and Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff." I usually make two mix CDs for any given party--a quieter CD that people can talk over when the party is first getting started and a louder CD to dance to. Usually works out quite well.

Well, since it looks like Ryan may be a late night man, whereas i myself am never on the internet after 4PM, so i'll just go ahead and drop some stuff i've been dropping lately, and some favorites.
The MSTRKRFT remix of The Panther's "Thank me with your hands" The Rapture's "House of Jealous Lovers" Gang of Four's "Damaged Goods" Beef Wellington's "Slightly Elevated" Belle and Sebastian's "Electronic Renaissance" (although the tempo changes a lot) Daedelus' "Fallen Love" Iggy and the Stooges "Search and Destroy" and/or "I wanna be your dog" Electric Eel Shock - "Rock and Roll can rescue the world" (will get cats dancing AND laughing) GoGoGo Airheart's "MiFi" Death from Above 1979's "Dead Womb" Haiku D'Etat's "Top Qualified" Mixel Pixel's "Fake Violin Solo" the Gorillaz "Rock the House" Lyrics Born's "Do That There" Minus the Bear's "Thanks for the killer game of Crisco Twister" Peaches "Double A, Triple X" TaJai's "Do It" Del Tha Funky Homosapien's "Funk Em" You cant forget the classics and the bigger songs, but those are like the meat and potatos... these cuts are the spices, mix them properly, and you'll end up with something delicious. |

Hey guys thanks for all of the awesome tracks, Ill defiantly check them out.
Anyways the demographic of the party is mostly going to be peopel aged 18-24, a vast majority of the people will be white, the crowd is mainly upper middle class, ummm... thier musical tastes seem to be anythign top 40 at the moment. (Not sure if that breakdown helped at all haha) For music wise, sogns that have lyrics pertaining to partying, drinking, "sexxing" Would all seem to be appropriate. One thing when talking to some people that we agreed we didnt want to have were some songs where the lyrics were not all the audible or songs where the lyrics overshadowed the music. Its hard to explain I know haha, however, the ebst example I can provide is that in some udnergrounds hip hip songs they almost sound unpolished and unfinished. (I know this is inherent to that type of music) however, these songs may not be the best for partying. Thanks again for the large ammount of tracks people listed, Ill most definatly check them out, and I look forward to picking up a few mroe from you guys.
