Linkin Park's "Underground v4.0"
 

Just leaked onto the web 1/28, and I must say, its a great EP

My favorite track has to be "Standing in the Middle" which features MotionMan and KutMasta Kurt. If you guys are HipHop fans, this shouldn't be new names to you, but if you're not, these are the same guys who were on LP's Inth E Nd off the Reanimation album.

I've been a huge LP fan for a while now, in fact, i even met them here in LA. But everytime I discuss LP with "rock fans," they always have soemthing negative to say. They claim that LP has "screwed up real rock," but what they've done for hiphop is really respectable.

If you rocker's dont want to accept LP, us HipHop'ers will gladly take um ;)

Anyway, anyone hear this EP yet? Or anyone have any opinions on LP?

Blah. I wish LP would come out with something to rival their Hybrid Theory once again. I don't mind the mix that they're trying to create, but I didn't much care for Reanimation or, especially, most of Meteora. Thanks for the pics though!

Haven't all of their albums clocked in at under half an hour? (the real ones anyway, not the 4 remix albums they have out) Their songs are like perfect verse-chorus-verse-bridge-chorus-cookie-cutter-three-minute-radio-friendly peices of crap. It is for this reason alone I refuse to take them seriously. Also, if you're going to put out an album, put out an album!!! Not an EP-length-but-stull-full-priced release.

I can't stand Linkin Park, they're just not my kind of music, plus they're really no good with their instruments.

Look, i own turntables, and i love rock and metal. KEEP THE TWO APART. they just dont mix.

you obviously haven't heard the DnB remix of Slayer's "Reign In Blood" or of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" Yes I'm a dj/producer.. and I love rock and metal..sometimes the two should mix.. but in this case I'll agree with you. :thumbsup:


anyway, LP sucks. There's no other way to say it. Why would I buy an album that is less than 30 minutes in length? It's just a way that they can whore more money from people. I'd also like to know what they've done for hiphop. .. let's discuss that aspect.

I dont think i clarified well enough. When Z-Trip scratches up Janis Joplin, or mixes Outkast and Black Sabath I'm all about it... but i think live rock and roll with a turntablist ALWAYS comes out poorly (at least what i've bothered to listen to).

I couldn't agree more. A CD holds 74 minuits worth of music. I can't stand it when a band puts out an album that uses less than half of that. I pay the same whether the CD has 30 minuits or 74. I feel ripped off if I only get half an hour of music for my money.

I liked Hybrid Theory and Meteora, but can't stand all the remix stuff they're putting out. Write enough new songs to give me my money's worth and I'll buy it.

Well... the theory with MOST EPs is that they cost about half as much as an album... i guess thats what happens with major distro's... but a real EP (EXTENDED play) should never cost anything more than 6-8.

I like a few of their songs, but as a rock fan... bad news, I like classic rock, and mixing hip hop with rock is not usually my thing.

Were Linkin Park the band that had those two songs that were exactly the same? They were both singles off of different albums and when you gave them the same tempo and adjusted the pitch a little,they were the same songs!

I think that Link Park to makes great music. I like all of their CD's. I havent heard their new stuff but I think I'll try to find some of it on the web. Ems thanks for the info!

It sounds like a Nextel subscriber is using their walkie talkie feature in track 2 (Breaking the Habit), as there are similiar beeps throughout..

I would like to see a brand new album with all new material from Linkin Park instead of these mixes, but I do consider them to be a good band; it would just be nice if they released more original and new material.

Well it's en EP, which isn't a full album, normally some B-sides and songs for the new album they're going to put out, so it's not going to be very long.

I believe Linkin Park has two songs that are like that too, but I don't remember which two.

However, I would take a second to really listen to the songs separatly rather than play them both at the same time and say they're the same just because there's no notes that seem to clash. There are only so many chord progressions that sound good, especially in pop rock, and both Linkin Park and Nickelback are poppy enough to qualify. If you are willing to transpose a song to a different key and change the temo, I'm willing to bet there are LOTS of songs that sound the same. If you want every song to be completely unique, you'll have to look for something a little less radio friendly.

Well they've given 3 EP's the "Underground" [underground 2.0, 3.0, and the new 4.0] title simply because its not marketted like their albums are -- I agree, stupid name, but whatever

Its good workout music. Mindless, high energy... Beyond that, I dont really listen to them, but Ill probably "acquire" this album for workouts.

Bionic Jive is more of a contribution to the hiphop/rock movement than LP is...they're too suburban sounding for me
