A Wilhem Scream
So I was on the way to get something to eat last night and I turned the radio to The Edge because I'm so sick of the crap that typically gets played. Although I usually don't like this station's format (more alternative) they at least don't play the same songs I always hear on the other stations.
The song that was playing grabbed me immediately. It was fast and had great guitar melodies. Kind of Maiden-esque but in a punkish style. I had to find out what it was so I sat in the car till the DJ says what was played (it turns out this was their nightly Ska-Punk show). The band was called A Wilhelm Scream. I looked them up on amazon and downloaded the album last night. I listened to it today on the way to work. It's all pretty fast stuff, people on amazon classified it as punk, so I guess that's what it is (although I think of things like Minor Threat, GG Allen or Sex Pistols when I think of punk, but that's just me). What I really like about it is that they are a 'newer' band (the band has been around since the mid 90's but they recently changed guitarists and did a serious overhaul on their music style so they decided to change the name) that knows there are more than three strings on the guitar and they use them all. Lots of fills, melodies, and even tapping (yes tapping in a punk album!). We'll see if my interest in the album remains or if I just get tired of it after a few listens. If after a month or so goes by and I like it still, I'll probably buy it. Has anyone else heard of this band? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/cus...KX0DER&s=music |

I thought this was going to be about an album containing clips of Wilhelm Screams from various movies. I must say I am kinda disappointed.
Hadn't heard of the band, by the way, just Wilhelm Scream as it pertains to movies. |
