Library of Congress Music Archive
A friend of mine shared this with me tonight and I thought I'd pass it along. If you click this link here you'll be taken to the Performing Arts, Music section of the American Memory chunk of the LOC. There's a lot of old folk/blues/work songs and the like on there. The quality's not always the best but the heart and soul you'll hear in these pieces and the information they've put together more than make up for it. I just spent a few hours digging through the John and Ruby Lomax section and I haven't even scratched the surface. If you're a fan of the history of recorded music then you can't go wrong with this stuff. Take advantage of your tax dollars.

Great find.
Most people would be surprised to learn that many local colleges will have libraries of most music recorded in the area or by people from the area in the archived sections. Being SUNY Fredonia we had a ton of 10,000 Maniacs and Natalie Merchant. Not really my cup of tea but it was still cool to find it there.

Yeah! Libraries are an excellent place to find music. I'll hit up my local libraries occasionally to see what they have. I've found lots of great classical, blues, and jazz through them. Hell, they've even got decent movie selections. I checked out Taxi Driver a while back, can't beat that.
