Soundtrack of your Life
Growing up I watched a fair bit of movies. Romantic to comedy to drama to thriller; pretty much anything can turn my crank. I enjoy a great film because I like characters. That is to say, characters with great growth in a film can be like a best friend. You root for some and frown at others. But the atmosphere is always improved ten fold, no matter the situation, with great music.
Now, if you were a character in a film what kind of music would follow your significant parts? What is the soundtrack of your life? Seven moments I can think of so far are: Fade in: Mine would probably be the intro to Teenage Wasteland. I’ve always loved the introduction to this song and it is a great fade in. Car scene: You know, driving and looking into the sunset dramatically in a film. For this I chose “Out of my Head” by Fast Ball. The song is slightly sad but still rather catchy Fight scene: For my fight scene I chose two songs “Mu Empire” by Glassjaw. The song is raw and fast, like a fight. It’s whiney but hard. I like it. Heartbreak scene: “Re-offender” by Travis is a good song for the scene. The scene progresses as the song progresses. Emotion builds as the song builds. Good mix. Also the song “Reptilia” by The Strokes is a great song for it. Dance Scene/Romantic Epiphany/Pre Kiss: “I’ll be” by Edwin McCain. Good song for a good scene. Or “This years love” by David Gray. Climax (for anything related to sports): “C’mon C’mon” by The Von Bondies. Always play sports listening to the song. The bass line is catchy. It’s a cheerful song. I like it. Fade Away: “Must Get out” by Maroon 5 is always something I imagined ending a film. It’s fiting. So, the challenge is create a new scene or maybe just replace the son in one of mine. I’d love to hear you’re ideas. A scene could be as simple as “Eating Ice Cream”… but please don’t do eating ice cream. Good luck. Punk music fan21

I don't know what music would be in a soundtrack to my life, but I suspect everything would be a little flat.

I know that during the pursuit part of my life (whatever that would be, maybe my pursuit of my wife) the instrumental part from Pink Floyd's Dogs would be playing. We had a tornado in town 6 years ago, and I drove to my parents to check on them. Animals was in the CD player, and I had set the camcorder on the dash to record. When I took the video to work later to show it, the music was GREAT with the damage shown. Just my little story on why I chose that.

I might just go with the soundtrack from Amelie, straight up. I think that movie had, by far, the best score I've ever heard... maybe throw a Wilco track or two in there, just to give it some edge, but that sounds good to me. I have to go buy an accordion now.
