Favourite punk bands with female singers?

What are yours. I would say my favourite would be Sleater-Kinney, Distillers, and Bikini Kill.

Gotta go with the Go-Gos. Sure, everyone knows them for Alex the Seal (I know - Our lips are Sealed) and the couple pop albums they did in the 80s, but they started as a punk band and their most recent album starts back towards it.

Is this for bands with just female singers, or are bands that have both female and male singers included? Im going to assume that both are ok so Ill say:

Vice Squad
Crass
New York Rel-X (great people, do a lot for the scene)
The Expelled
Nausea
A.P.P.L.E.

go go´s ain´t punk bro. 45 grave with the incredible Dinah Cancer were unforgettable if you were alive in them days. Faith No More´s coupla gigs with the hideous Courtney Cobain were memorable as well. And, yes FNM was pretty fuckin punk back in the day.

From what I've heard, Jackoff Jill is like... industrial goth, or a lesser variation of Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids circa 1993, just with females

neither one can be considered even remotely punk rock. That´s using the most flexible criteria.

Jack Off Jill : Good, but not punk

In terms of pure punk, probably Sleater-Kinney

If we go more loosely, probably the Pixies and Veruca Salt.

I always preferred it when Frank was singing. Veruca Salt is fun to listen to.

I will.

My favorites are Siouxie and the Banshees and the Plasmatics.

I used to want to BE Wendy O. Williams.... 'least 'til I heard she was a junkie. *shrugs* I did a reasonable facsimile until I got clean, lmao, but still. Don't want to die, thanks.

I'm not sure if Denali is punk but Denali - Normal Days is a good song none-the-less. I also like Sleater-Kinney, don't really know many punk bands with female singer though.

Depends on where you're from, really. I don't find Blondie very punk, but a lot of people here do. *shrugs*

Well, at the beginning, punk and new wave were the same thing. See New Wave music - Wikipedia:
Quote:
Originally, Seymour Stein, the head of Sire Records needed a term by which he could market his newly signed CBGB's veteran bands. Because radio consultants in the US had advised their clients that punk rock was a fad (and because many stations that had embraced Disco had been hurt by backlash), he settled on the term "new wave." ... Thus, the term "new wave" was interchangeable with punk rock.
So, it really depends on what you mean by 'punk'. Blondie was one of those first punk bands to be marketed as 'new wave'.
