Singin' the blues

I just bought 'The London Howlin' Wolf Sessions' cd, which in addition to Howlin' Wolf's fantastic gritty raw voice, features musicians such as Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, even Ringo on drums for one song, and assorted other Brits. The combination is just plain wicked.

What are your favorite blues guitarists or singers? I also enjoy BB King, Magic Slim, et al. The White Stripes and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion are both great modern groups for the bluesiness. They can be classics, contemporaries, or heavily blues-inspired, it's all good!

(they got the blues)

Buddy Guy! Unbelievable emotion in his voice.

Susan Tedeschi has an unreal blues voice. I believe she's married to Derek Trucks...?

BB King, can't beat him. Voice or Guitar

Robet Plant and Jimmy Page make an unreal duo for the blues. Just finished watching disc 1 of the new Lepplin DVD set. Amazing.

Muddy Waters, SRV and John Lee Hooker

Albert mother fucking King.

Check out the CD where he and SRV play together. "Stormy Monday" from that disc blew my mind. "Blues at Sunrise," too.

Been listening to a lot of Howlin' Wolf, as well. Great blues voice.

I'd like to hear Tom Waits sing some old school blues tunes. "Heartattack and Vine" is a great start, but I want more like that from him.

I'll also have to go along with Mr. Chester Burnette. And specifically, his version of "Back Door Man."

Find any CD with Charlie Bingham in it...he plays for James Solberg Bang, Lamont Cranston and The Hoopsnakes.
