I'll agree that he's not physically the most attractive person ever. However, in many cases talent can make a person more attractive in a weird way. This could be one of those cases. *shrug*

But does he really have talent? I never quite found the charm of American Idol

he's not particularly amazing, but I would qualify him as talented. He'd fit best in musical theatre IMO.

you could say the same for quite of a few of the Vaudeville performers, but most of them never made it big or were not forced down people's throat by monopoly networks.

Ah, the grand illusion of American Idol.

Talented? Eh, sure. Such a broad term though. We're all talented in one way or another, but Clay and singing? Hahaha, no. With a few years of vocal lessons/coaching, you could probably acquire the same amount of talent that he has. Let's put it this way: the majority of us probably know someone who can sing as good, if not better, than him. He's not THAT special.

Plus, I HIGHLY doubt he wrote his own songs and composed his own music. These people are literally puppets: rating generators. They might sell some albums and make a quick million or two, but they won't make a career out of it and will most likely be mocked for years to come (think Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice, NKOTB, NSync, BSB, etc..).

Anyway... hottest singer? Hell no. Not even REMOTELY close, and we all know this. What this is is a blatant case of "we need to sell more Clay records" since he's pretty much dropped outta the public eye. Fox is still tryin to squeeze that last dollar outta him, so giving him publicity is all part of the marketing of American Idol.

In Clay Aiken's defense you are wrong. He is a fantastic singer. I've known people who've taken plenty of times worth of voice lessons and they can't touch him. Don't hate on him cause he was on American Idol or got wrongly voted Sexiest male. He really can sing and I don't just say that about anyone...I'm very picky about that. Most of the American Idol singers were either shitty or subpar....he really was good. Hearing him sing Solitare was fantastic.
