Other Rob Zombie type music?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for more "industrial metal" like Rob Zombie (White Zombie), Ministry, and Rammstein. Rob Zombie's Superbeast and Demonoid Phenomenon are good examples of what I'm looking for. I've done a search in this forum and tried various suggestions where Rob Zombie was also suggested, like Slayer and Pantera. But its heavier than what I'm looking for. I'm looking for music with fast drums and lots of nice distortion but not too much screaming. :D

Other suggestions which I've listened to but weren't what I was looking for are NIN, Godsmack, and Fear Factory.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Powerman 5000 maybe?

It's Rob Zombie's brother's (Spider) band. Heavily themed to stuff like robots. I wouldn't say it's as heavy, but it's a neat variation of it.

Pig is another good choice. KMFDM. Skinny Puppy..

If I think of more, I'll post em. Fear Factory is hit and miss, you should probably hear a few more songs by them. Some songs are all out screaming (which annoys me) while others are more melodic and very little screaming.

How about Type O Negative? Pete Steele has a kick ass voice and the music is a type of industrial metal.

I'd say Type O Negative is more goth rock. I couldn't tell you any other industrial rock bands that haven't already been mentioned, but you might also like industrial EBM. Maybe some older Funker Vogt?

TurbineSlut 08-03-2004 01:03 AM

Okay, thanks. :) I'll check them out.

About the Industrial EBM... I have listened to some internet radio stations with EBM and I can't say I enjoyed it. But maybe I'll check out this Funker Vogt. Thanks.

wumpscut
Very heavy and dark.
However, your selections seem to be more of the guitar based industrial. Rock augmented with industrial if you will. This form of industrial has almost died out.

Hmm... KMFDM would be good.

Maybe Lords of Acid- they have a girl singer and are a bit more electronic.

Sepultura - Brazilian Rock

Coal Chamber
Biohazard
Dope
Killing Joke - Especially the Millenium CD.
God Lives Underwater
Mortal Kombat the Movie Soundtrack?
Spawn Movie Soundtrack?

Oh God, not Lords of Acid. That's a big stretch to compare them to Rob Zombie. If anything, they are Euro Industrial Rap (hurrah for me, I made yet ANOTHER sub category of music!).

It was just a suggestion, and I have no clue where you get the rap part from... It might be Eurotrash techno, definitely, but not rap.

Really, it's electronic, distorted, really fast drums, and the opposite end of the industrial spectrum from Fear Factory. It's not something I would listen to outside of parties, but some people actually like it.

SKINNY PUPPY YES

Anything off the VIVIsect VI album

Polyphobic 08-05-2004 05:44 AM

I'm currently addicted to Rabies by Skinny Puppy. Awesome album. However, it has very little in common with rock-industrial acts. Still one of the greatest industrial bands ever. IMO

k1ng 08-06-2004 09:36 AM

Static-x perhaps? I especially enjoy their first album.

Wu Lung 08-07-2004 05:54 AM

I'll re-iterate the recommendation for Static- X.

Other simailar type stuff would be:
Disturbed (less synth/samplers)
Godhead (more synth/samplers)
Gravity Kills (kinda derivative but couple of songs are good)
Mushroomhead (probably a bit heavy for your tastes...)
Snake River Conspiracy (little light but still kinda cool)

That what leaps out at me from my playlist atm

anleja 08-07-2004 03:54 PM

Try Sister Machine Gun, especially their "Metropolis" album.

I will also recommend Static-X,

Jesus Pimp 08-07-2004 05:47 PM

MINISTRY! Rob Zombie is overrated.

Bodyhammer86 08-08-2004 10:32 AM

try mnemic

anleja 08-08-2004 12:21 PM

Have you heard Lard? It is Ministry with Jello Biafra from the Dead Kennedys singing, and it kicks major ass. They have several releases, they are all great.

SolShun 08-09-2004 09:22 PM
