Eminem & Weird Al
Eminem has refused to allow the release of the song or video from Weird Al Yankovic which parodies "Lose Yourself" from the movie 8 MILE.
Although Eminem is certainly not known for his sense of humor, he has parodied himself and other celebrities in some of his more famous videos. Obviously, every artist, including Mr. Mathers, has the right to limit the use of their original material. But....should Eminem loosen up and laugh at himself a bit more? Why do you think he's so angry? |
i just want to hear that track. should be funny.

It is my understanding that , as his work is parody, Weird Al asks permission by way of good relations in the industry rather than any legal necessity (Witness Coolio's conniption over "Amish Paradise").
That said, Eminiem is a dickhead of the first water. Unfortunately, he is very clever, on heck of a songwriter, and a low grade marketing wizard. I forsee a lot of traffic in his songs on Kazaa, even though I will only listen to a few of them. (I have most of Metallica for similar reasons.) Speaking of which, what I would really like to see Weird Al do is a song about Fat Albert to the tune of "I Disappear" (Hey Hey Hey, Here I go, Here I go down to the Dump...) I really would like to hear the track, though. |
Weird Al doing a parody of Eminem. Am I the only one who is thinking they should parody each other?
|
If Weird Al isn't parodying(sp?) somebody else, what does he do? Doesn't he play the whatsit faced keyed push in pull out things? Sorry, just one of those mind block kind of things.

accordion. but he plays several instruments

I just read that...Eminem is just being a jerk. Weird Al's already made the song, but Marshall just doesn't want the video to be "ruined". Heh. I guess I'll be buying that album Tuesday.

Eminem is an idiot. I read a long write-up about him and weird al. The idea that eminem kept on supporting himself with was that he didn't want a song like Weird Al's to ruin the image that's important for his music (almost word for word....). Excuse me, did you just say that you need your image to survive?! Ah ha! I knew it was all about the image and not about the music with the rap industry these days (hence all the "rap not being hip-hop" arguements ive gotten into on the internet....) :D

Weird Al could only help Eminem. Like they say, "there's no such thing as bad publicity." Its just that much more exposure. And us Weird Al fans would get another awesome parody.
