ahhh, I seem to remember something about that in another thread now... short memory I guess, either way, I'm pumped for the new album.

I'm also super pumped for that one. Anyone check out his solo album? Worth picking up?

oh my god, its fucking incredible. i'll go with the main comparison that many critics are giving: like bruce springsteen's nebraska, but darker.

It's a great album. I actually picked it up last year. He's been burning copies and selling them for a while before remastering it and having it officially released this year. Got to see him do a few of the tunes at a solo show last summer. He's a hell of a storyteller and a nice fella.

meanSpleen - I *adore* Rasputina. I've been following them since their first album, "Thanks for the Ether." I'm hoping they come through Milwaukee again - I saw them when they came through for their How We Quit the Forest tour, and they are totally amazing live!

meanSpleen 07-09-2004 07:18 PM

Lucky you!! I've seen them... uhh...

...

Lets just say I own the albums :D I'm biased though. I play(ed) cello during middle school up till college.

Not sure if you've heard it, but it's a little bit different then their first cd, but overall I enjoy it quite a bit. The backup singers took a little while to get used to haha, they sound a little odd compared to what John sounds like.

cockmonger 07-19-2004 09:34 PM

who are all these bands?

KWSN 07-20-2004 04:08 AM

Judging by a recent listen I think we already have a frontrunner for the second half.

The Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat

kutulu 07-20-2004 09:43 AM

Clutch - Blast Tyrant
Fear Factory - Archetype
Ministry - Houses of the Mole'

Bobaphat 07-20-2004 10:33 AM

Man, this thread got me to thinkin'. I haven't purchased a new album in a very long time. I don't think I own anything that was recorded in the last year or so. I must be getting old.

i really like it compared to the first one. It seems a little harder, but gets softer in the middle of the album. I like the new singer as well.

KWSN 07-20-2004 02:45 PM

i just purchased the new hives cd

FUCKING INCREDIBLE

Booray 07-20-2004 05:47 PM

Anyone heard the new Cowboy Junkies album? It came out in the first half of '04, but I haven't checked it out yet.

MrFlux 07-20-2004 07:56 PM
