Maybe the RIAA should take a step back...

I can just imagine a mugging with this technology in place: mugger: "Give me your MP3 player!" guy: "ok..please don't hurt me!" mugger: "DAMMIT! It's one of those fingerprint ones...ok, give me your hand!!!" |

Yeesh, how much is that gonna cost?
The only thing that's bothered/affected me so far is those CDs with intentional imperfections (to prevent ripping) that end up not being playable on some CD players. But hey, there's always the good ol' boycott.

If it's playable on a PC, someone will figure a way around the intentional imperfections. Commodore 64 software used that to protect their SW on floppy. It usually only lasted until someone got around to ripping out the protection to stop the annoying drive chattering.

That goes for DVD's too. When will DVD buners be able to burn in DVD-9 format? |
