A perfect circle Live show
Went to their concert in Indy on saturday. Words can't describe how amazing they were. Opened with Vanishing with Maynard behind a screen and an awesome lighting system that projected Maynards silhouette at different angles, and just looked damn cool. After Vanishing the curtain was dropped. Pet was 2nd song I believe, don't remember the set list, just know they opened with Vanishing and closed with Judith.
Sound system at the Pepsi place was pretty good, first time being there, usually goto shows in Chicago. Floor tickets sold out by the time i went to get them for the chicago show though. Billy started introducing the band and then had the crowd sing Maynard happy birthday. For his birthday present Maynard ran some censorship experiments by having the crowd shout Shitfuck and Assnipple, to see if there would be any negative effects on us after saying these words. He also levitated a water bottle inbetween songs near the end. Simply amazing, one of the best live acts I have seen. Oh ya, the opening band was the Mars Volta. They were horrible. Maybe I just don't understand them, but damn, awful. They played the whole set with only 1 break from constant "music". Their singer is god awful. They just need to play At the Drive-in material because it was 100x better. |
I saw them last fall and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I think they are just a good live band, cuz I saw them in a venue that isn't really that good acoustically, but it still kicked ass.
|
Saw them earlier this year in Cedar Rapids, IA. the show rocked hard.
|
I saw APC last November in Houston. They opened the same way. Maynard behind a screen playing two drums on either side to Vanishing. Cant remember the opening act at that show, but they where not very good. They actually started throwing their water bottles at the crowd. Havent heard any songs by Mars Volta either. I'm going to the May 29th show at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion here in Houston. I got 10th row reserved seats. Cant wait.
|
I've seen them three times. Theatrical crap, if you ask me. Very distant. I just hate Maynard, really.
|
I've never been to an APC show, but just to see them live would be a kick, whether it was a good show or not.
Live sounds so much different than recorded, but I like APC either way! |
If anyone wants to buy tickets to the Houston Texas show, thebuzz.com has a link on their front page to a pre-sale. Looks like there are still reserved seats available.

I saw APC in San Fran, and have to say its the best show since I have seen in a while. Maynard puts so much energy into his performance, really gets into it and had his shirt torn off by the shows end (not sure if thats a common thing this tour or not). I often times find myself, eyes closed, swaying with the crowd, taking it all in. Very tight performance as usual. I was going to see them in Sacremento too, but someone ended up ill and the show was postponed to a date I could not make  |
I've seen APC three times. Their shows are ok. Now Tool shows are amazing. Make it a goal in your life to see Tool at least once.
|
Nothing in the world could make me miss the new Tool tour.
At the show I went to, Maynard's shirt was in rags by the end of the show as well, so it may be a common thing. |
I mean come on, how many shows do you start singing a song called "Fred's Slacks"????
Not many! I loved APC when they were in Tampa. Yeah, Maynard doesn't have alot of lights on him, but I think he said in an interview that he can't really concentrate with a bunch of bright lights in his face. H eneds to be comfortable to perform well. And his shirt was completely off at this show. And in tight purple spandex with black stripes. teehee. <3 Maynard. |
Maynard has said something to the effect of..."when your telling someone a personal story, how would you like it if someone came up and flashed a camera in your face, how distracting do you think that would be."
Thats why he prefers to stand in the back of the stage, lights facing the crowd, it offsets flashbulbs and lets him see how the audience is reacting. |
APC is possibly one of the greatest concert's I've ever been to, when I saw them earlier this year.
I think Tool was slightly better because it had more in terms of production (projectors etc) and Osseus Labyrint (? the contortionists from Schism) performing during Triad. That and the opening band was The Melvins, how cool is that. APC didn't have an opening band when they played Wellington, because they toured when NZ was hit by the worst storm in a decade, and all their gear was delayed by several hours. But they still got the sound just right :) |
They're playing in a few weeks up here... I've been thinking about going. But I've already got 2 concerts lined up, with a possible 2 more for the summer. And I'm broke!
Ack! |
Well, if I lived around your area, I'd grab a couple tix and we'd catch a show. But I'm on the wrong side of the US, and I just missed the APC show in Seattle like 2 weeks ago! Dammit.
I wanted to go, and I was telling a few people, "when they come to town, let me know, and I'll go" and they were all like yeah man no prob. So I see a guy at work I was talking to about it with a new shirt, and I was saying "cool shirt" where'd you get it at? He says at the A Perfect Circle show last night. Bastards! Always the last to know. Wow, what a rant there. Hmmm... guess I'll have to pay closer attention? |
SpikeQX99, did you hear APC's accoustic performances then if your in the seattle area? Cant remember the radio station it was recorded at, but heard they have replayed it a few times now.

It's quite an experience I assure you. And not to knock Maynard, but the drummer stole the show. --jaded |
I've seen APC three or four times and Tool five or six times... definitely different moods at either one, but both wonderful to go to...
APC is more theatrical and Tool is more, oh, I don't know, angry, for want of a better word. Definitely better shows than some others I have been to, and I've been to hundreds and hundreds of concerts (can't help it, love music)... |
Yeah I saw them two days after Spartak did and I gotta say they fucking rocked. They have a really good atmosphere, and all the band members did their own little thing at some point.
Props to anyone who knows where the song "Fred's Slacks" is from ;) |
I was gonna start a new thread but I found this one.
I saw them this past Sat at the Universal Ampatheater. Simply amazing. That opening scene with him behind the curtain was great. It was awsome how you never really see Maynard thoughout the show. Much different than what you'd expect. Much harder sound live. The opening band was Mini-Kiss and Burning Brides. Mini-Kiss was a riot. Midget Kiss tribute band!! LOL Burning Brides rocked, I'll get thier album when it's out. If I didn't love APC enough before I sure do now. |
Fred's Slacks... isn't that on Saturday Night Live where Will Ferrell dressed up like Satan?
-------------------- There's a man named Fred and he's got a pair of slacks ooooh Fred's got slacks ... on the boulevard -------------------- that one? |
