What albums to you listen to when you're doin' it?

I had a good friend of mine ask me a few days ago what albums I could recommend that would really shake up the bed for him and his girlfriend. Besides the usual artists known for bedtime lust music - ie - Enigma and Delerium - i couldn't really come up with anything. (By the way, if you don't know about Delerium, just pick up "Semantic Spaces" - it's a gem...)

So I pose this question to my fellow TFP'ers - What album or albums do you listen to when you're in the mood to slip into something more comfortable with your signifficant other(s)?

lou reed- transformer

springsteen- darkness on the edge of town

anything by the beatles

Empty_One 05-05-2003 08:27 AM

I like sportscenter :)

The wife seems to prefer Pure Moods vol 1-4 however. She usually wins

fienna 05-05-2003 08:35 AM

yeah, me and the girlfriend usually do it to sportscenter, actually... it's pretty funny after the hockey game (she and I are big Devils fans)

:D

Plummie 05-05-2003 10:39 AM

Portishead - Dummy

(one of my faves)

rockogre 05-05-2003 11:00 AM

Deep Purple, the Machine Head album.

guthmund 05-05-2003 12:23 PM

I can't believe nobody's mentioned the 'basics.'

Anything by Marvin Gaye also known as "The Man"

And any real slow R&B stuff. I don't normally listen to this stuff, but I enjoy the pace and it's usually very husky sexy stuff.

And if all else fails SportCenter is on like every 20 minutes....:)

fienna 05-05-2003 12:39 PM

cool - i'm really interested in all of your suggestions... maybe i should rephrase this and say

"what music turns you on when you listen to it?"

snowy 05-05-2003 01:08 PM

Sade! Sade's Lovers Rock is one of the best albums to have sex to EVER. Anything by her qualifies. It also turns me on/gets me in the mood...it's slow, sultry and sexy. Oooh.

SecretMethod70 05-05-2003 03:24 PM

Granted, I'm a virgin, but to me I'd rather listen to the music made by my partner's screams ;) ;) :D :D

Fearless_Hyena 05-05-2003 04:48 PM

VA - James Brown's Funky People vols. 1 & 2!!
Prodigy - Music For the Jilted Generation

and just about any reggae music that fits the mood (reggae music is my life)

SeXuaLSoYBeaN 05-05-2003 04:54 PM

I listen to the orgasm :O

That's a good one...

ok, now don't laugh, but this works....check it out before flaming it, this album totally has some "fuck me" beats....

Geaorge Michael's Older album

Works EVERY time....

MilleniumZeus 05-05-2003 05:02 PM

Kenny G or James Taylor works for me if I remember right.

greytone 05-05-2003 05:27 PM

What about Ravel's Bolero? Anyone remember that from the moview "10"? I have a South American style guitar version of it by Stanley Jordan.

If you have read any Douglas Adams, you know the importance of Dire Straits.

Any Sade or Toni Braxton. Winelight by Grover Washington. The list is almost endless.

ARTelevision 05-05-2003 05:31 PM

I'm terrible. I listen to talk radio...

(this is true)

I could see James Taylor though....

degrawj 05-05-2003 09:19 PM

portishead is good, and the Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis. also Janet Jackson's All for You.

KWSN 05-05-2003 09:37 PM

If you need to get your girl (or guy) in the mood, there are some essentials:

Parliament

Barry White

Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits

Marvin Gaye

Isaac Hayes

Al Green

Trust me... they all work like MAGIC.

As a matter of fact, that's where I got the idea to use their music... that man truly knows what he is talking about.

frozenstellar 05-06-2003 04:00 AM

depends really.. with an old ex we used to listen to a lot of metal during sex, resulting in very rough sex. still have a scar on my back from where she dug her nails in. was dynamo in the sack tho.

my last girl, she wasnt into the same scene i was. i tried a few times, she wasnt the musical type. :(

fienna 05-06-2003 07:28 AM

wow, you all have some great suggestions... i never would have thought to try Dire Straits or Sade - although Sade should have been obvious, i think...

also, george michael's older album? which one was that - Faith?

Spektr 05-06-2003 01:48 PM

Good fuckin' music:

Zero 7 - Simple Things
Fiona Apple - Tidal
Ben Harper - Live From Mars CD 2
Blue Six - Beautiful Tomorrow
Thievery Corporation - Mirror Conspiracy or Richest Man in Babylon
Massive Attack - Mezzanine (a little dark, but good)
Al Green - Greatest Hits
Marvin Gaye - Greatest Hits

And if you're really kinky:

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral

kgb 05-06-2003 02:09 PM

My Ex and I would usually stick on a Radiohead album (everything except Pablo Honey).

druptight 05-06-2003 04:17 PM

Radiohead

Mogwai

both extremely good choices!

MilleniumZeus 05-06-2003 05:39 PM

Did you ever hear of the group " Whateverturnsheron"? or "Themusikthatwontmakeherlaughwhileyouaretryingtodrillher"?

Kadath 05-06-2003 08:30 PM

Are you looking for specifically sexual songs, or songs that would provide good backround for the act itself?
For setting the mood:
"Let's get it on", "Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye. Obvious.
"Tuppelo Honey" by Van Morrison. Best love song ever.

As for maintaining:
Dave Matthews had some good stuff. "Satellite", "Let you down",etc
U2 as well "All I want is you", etc.

But the ultimate lovemaking song? "Caress Me Down" by Sublime. How can a song whose second line is "I'm hornier than Ron Jeremy" be wrong?

kipperoo3 05-06-2003 09:34 PM

Usher - U got it bad

Ganguro 05-07-2003 07:21 AM

anywho...

for a while there we always had a knack of having sex when Korn's "Issues" was playing
or MC Paul Barman's "Paulleujiah" was on.. soo weird!

Nowadays it's the Phantasy Star Onine Soundtrack..
Yes Virginia.. nerds do it too dontchaknow!

Spungfoo 05-07-2003 12:59 PM

Faith No More's "Songs to Make Love To" should be an obvious choice :)

Hah! That second one brings back some memories. ;)

clues_blues 05-14-2003 12:11 PM

my girl and i can't listen to tricky's maxinquaye w/o gettin' naked...

also like jill scott, otis redding, marvin gaye, ben harper, maxwell, jaheim and sometimes i'll throw on some old school d'n'b if we are really energetic!

basically if we like it to begin with, we like it when we are amorous, but that damn tricky album is a serious thong melter.

Kadath 05-14-2003 08:24 PM

In college we used to get down to the soundtracks from Braveheart and Heat. No words means nothing to distract.

Frowning Budah 05-17-2003 11:53 AM

Don't usually listen to music while in the act, but Enigma does set a mood without being a distraction.

rideough 05-19-2003 05:13 AM

Portishead-Dummy just reeks of sex. I can barely drive if my wife is in the car and Portishead is on the stereo:D

Pink Floyd Wish you were here is her fave. pure ambience

Atomic Pinkie 05-19-2003 05:28 AM
