I have never heard of this genre. But I have heard of 'Swedish Metal', i.e. bands like Arch Enemy, Messuggah(sic?), and Soilwork. But Evanescence is definitely not Swedish Metal.

Evanescence does sound like a cheap ripoff of Linkin Park on their hit single. Maybe they should have released another single, that wasn't so similar to Linkin Park. That was there own damn fault. A single is a first impression to most music fans, and it can make or break how people judge the band.

Evanescence is #4 on the charts after 22 weeks. NOT bad at all.

Linkin Park is not in the top 15.

Why anyone compares the two bands is beyond me.

Evanescence 0wnz, but I wore out their songs long ago. Even their older songs that aren't on the album Fallen.

The "Wake Me Up" wasn't originally part of the song.

For fucks sake, listen to the other freakin songs too.

"My Immortal" is even better on their 1st CD.

...at Amazon right now they're trying to sell the Fallen album with Linkin Park's Meteora...guess everyone thinks...whatever....

I really like the sound of Evenescence, and I agree, the radio edit (or whatever it's called) of Bring Me To Life does sound Linkin Park-ish. I f&$king hate that version. The one on the CD, (without the dude shouting WAKE ME UP, in fact without the dude entirely, it's just Amy Lee and the band), sounds great. Don't know why they had to put that other singer on the track for DareDevil. Screw that $#!+.

Right now I'm stuck listening to Hello. It's deep. I dig the piano, it's so simple, and Amy's voice is freakin' powerful. Chick should do more piano stuff. I read in their bio at Launch "Ben Moody (lead guitarist) met at a junior high summer camp, where Moody was so impressed by Lee's piano rendition of Meat Loaf's "I'd Do Anything For Love" that he asked the young talent to join him in a band..." Man, I'd love to hear them cover that song.

So yeah, the band rocks and the radio edit of Bring me to Life is not their best work.

The video for Going Under is wild.

I've been listening to Lacuna Coil (who are from Italy) for a coupla years.

Linkin Park is a Limp Bizkit ripoff.,... who are a RATM ripoff... who are ... you get the picture.

Jesus Christ! Thats horrible. Dont ever say Limp Bizkit in the same breath as Rage Against the Machine, thats blasphemy. Limp Bizkit is a horrible band, however they are totally not a RATM rip off, they sound nothing like RATM.
