Best sing along songs?
What do you think are the best songs to sing along to? THey should probably be popular songs so most people are familiar with the lyrics. Here's a few of mine:
Yellow Submarine - Beatles
I Want to Hold Your Hand - Beatles Stairway to Heaven - Led Zep Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen Livin' on a Prayer - Bon Jovi We're not gonna take it - Twisted Sister Californication -Red Hot Chili Peppers
Bohemian Rhapsody takes the cake by far, but "What's Up" by the Four Non-Blondes takes a close second "AND I SAID HEEEEEEEEEY HEEEEEEEY HEEEEEEEEEY HEY HEY HEEEEEEEEEEEEY HEEEEEEEEY HEEEEEEEEEEEEY I SAID HEY!!! WHAT'S GOING OOON!!!"
you know you love it

most Smashing Pumpkins from Gish and Siamese Dream.
maybe not all 'popular' but very satisfying to sing along with, imo.

House of the Rising Sun is a traditional song (originally for a female singer, the song's about being a prostitute). The version you hear on oldies stations is by The Animals.
Anyway, this was a mixed tape (yes tape) of singalongs I had in my car during highschool... labelled "Will's Singalong". It was always fun for roadtrips, such as they were when we were 18. They were ordered better, now I'm just naming them as I remember them. Though some are quasi-obscure, they're all ones with choruses that are really fun to belt out, particularly at 2 in the morning or while you're supposed to be in calculus. 1. Doctor Worm by They Might be Giants 2. Basket Case by Greenday 3. Sabotage by the Beastie Boys 4. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen 5. Sweet Dreams, Marilyn Manson cover 6. San Dimas Highschool Football Rules by The Ataris 7. Wonderwall (or as we sang it, Wonderbra) by Oasis 8. Today by the Smashing Pumpkins 9. Buddy Holly by Weezer 10. Enter Sandman by Metallica 11. Linoleum by NoFX 12. Mr. Roboto by Styx Yeah. We were a weird bunch. I wonder how long before that playlist starts making me look really old... Last edited by rock_bottom; 02-07-2004 at 09:02 PM.. |

That buttercup song that's on the end of something about mary
My whole platoon started singing that while in formation during a change of command ceremony. It was hilarious!

Nah, Bad Moon Rising and House on the Rising Sun are WAY different....I think it's just a badly-named mp3. If it is, however, there is a cubonic ASSLOAD of people who have it named wrong. Everyone I know personally has it as CCR and you can do a search on Google for it and everyone's playlists come up as CCR - House On the Rising Sun. Is there any chance "Animal" or whoever actually did it sounds like CCR?

Aight I did some research (i.e. downloading) and Animals - House On the Rising Sun is basically the same thing I have for CCR. I promptly deleted the CCR and put in the Animals. Thanks for the info, Jeff!

Pretty much anything by They Might Be Giants...I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor), Take On Me (A-Ha), Punk Rock Girl (Dead Milkmen), Banditos (the Refreshments), Blister in the Sun (Violent Femmes), Freefallin' (Tom Petty)...all songs that require the radio gets turned up, and you sing along at the top of your lungs.

And now, Bob Biter presents: "Top 10 English songs to use during karaoke sessions in Japan when you want to let the locals in on it":
10) Carnival - The Cardigans (much to my surprise) 9) Close To You - The Carpenters 8) (I Can't Help) Falling In Love With You - UB40 7) Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler (much to my chagrin) 6) Mr. Roboto - Styx (you lose most of them after the Japanese part in the beginning, but they can sing the "Secret, secret, I gotta secret" part) 5) Blitzkrieg Bop - The Ramones (makes up for the Bette Midler song) 4) Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley 3) Yesterday - The Beatles 2) Imagine - John Lennon And the No. 1 English song to use during karaoke sessions in Japan, when you want to let the locals in on it... GHOSTBUSTERS! No words can describe the cuteness and fun factor involved in seeing and hearing a bunch of J-girls screaming "Ghostbusters" in their Japanese accent! - "When there's something strange, in the neighborhood, who you gonna call?" " GHOSTOBUSTAAH!" Awesome. Edited: because I can't distinguish my Beatles from my John Lennon!

Enrique Iglesias - Hero It's a terrible song, but it's fun as shit to sing when you're too giddy to realize you're making an ass out of yourself in front of your friends. Plus, you'll be a humorous-type ass.

Anyway, for the best sing along song, I'd have to say Good Riddance by Green Day. (You know the song... "something unpredictable and in the end is right, I hope you have the time of your life...")

I cannot believe nobody has said "Paul Revere" by Beastie Boys, "Fight For Your Right to Party" by Beastie Boys, or "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond.
others worth mentioning, "Desperado" (fill in any of the many bands that sing it here), "The Gambler" Kenny Rogers, "Wanted Dead of Alive" Bon Jon Jovi, Any Guns and Roses song, "Mother" Danzig, "Total Eclipse of the Heart" Bonnie Tyler, ugh... so many I am just going to stop at that.
