I don't remember the last album I bought becuase I have been boycotting the RIAA for over a year now.

Do what you want, but I won't stop supporting my favorite artists.

Evanescence-

I bought it because I enjoyed their first single, but I really enjoy their last single, My Immortal, although it is sad, it's beautiful.

I like the diversity of the album, it seems kind a monotonous beat, though, but still diverse enough in the melody and such......I haven't listened to all of it yet but I do enjoy it. I noticed that the My Immortal track on the CD is different than the radio-version.......I wonder if it's a hidden track or on an EP or something, I would love to find the radio version somewhere.......

Amfibian - From The Ether

Not a very well known band but this CD kicks ass. My favorite track is Distortion. I'm not really sure what to classify it as, but here is a link to a download of a show they played not too long ago. Its got pretty much everything on From The Ether there.

Brides of Destruction. Not the greatest disc I've heard, but Nikki Sixx getting into his Punk roots [a lot of people don't realize how influenced Motley was by punk] is good to hear. Music is great, vocals could be stronger.

Also got the new Tesla CD...They are still AWESOME!!!

Tesla is actually making music still?

Giving another shout for Maroon 5's 'Songs about Jane.' So far the best purchase to be found for new music.

this was a very good album with a lot of really good, catchy, upbeat songs.

The last CD I bought was: Everything to Everyone (?) - Barenaked Ladies

My dad actually bought this for himself but decided he didn't like it, and he gave it to me... I think that most of the songs are really good, but there are 2 that I don't like... other than that it is great!

modest mouse cd. excellent and very different, its great to see a band like that. They are just now exploding and getting publicity, but its too bad they werent known as well earlier

Starts off with an insanely good track, then dwindles. The odd good track in there but besides the first one they've gone farther towards the emo end of the spectrum. Not all bad though, but i was expecting better.

Motograter - Self Titled.

I actually bought this a couple of weeks ago (when I got the Justin Timberlake disk reviewed earlier), but wanted to listen to it more before making a decision.

Well, this is a fantastic CD pure and simple. It's obvious these guys are influenced by some of the nu-metal acts out there, specifically Mudvayne & Slipknot, and proceed in that same vain. Though what they lack in originality they more than make up for with some heavy, ass-kicking, power driven riffs, and blistering vocals. They pretty much stick to simplistic lyrics, with straight forward heavy grooves layered with some heavy bass lines. I love the crunching guitar and lush vocals on " No Name", and the non stop drum attack on "Collapse".

Some of the more vicious tracks are "Suffocate", "Down", "Prophecies", and "Wrong", and "Collapse".

I would highly recommend this disk to anyone that likes Mudvayne, SOAD, Slipknot, Sevendust, Soil, Mushroomhead, Flaw, Nonpoint, Spineshank, etc.

On a side note, these guys put on a fantastic live show. Again, it's very reminiscent of Mudvayne complee with the face paint and monosyllabic psuedonyms.

Overall I'd give this disk a 7/10. It's a great disk, but definately not breaking any new musical ground.

Well, this thread kinda died didn't it. But no more!!!!! It's Tuesday, so that means NEW CD RELEASES, and a pretty big CD Tuesday in my opinion. New releases of note for today include: Eric Clapton, Janet Jackson, Aerosmith, Clutch, J-Kwon, Soulfly, and Tracy Lawrence.

I picked up CD's by Clapton, Janet, Aerosmith, & Soufly.

The only one I've really listened to so far is Aerosmith, so here is my initial impression:

First off, let me say that I am not a big Aerosmith fan. I have almost 600 CD's, but not one Aerosmith album, until now. With that being said I admire them as a band. Anyone that can produce album after album that continues to chart while keeping the nucleus of the band intact deserves respect. Now, with that being said, I'd like to say that even without keeping that in mind, I really like this album. "Honkin On Bobo" is an album of Blues covers, but doesn't really stray from the "typical" Aerosmith sound. Joe Perry plays a mean guitar, Steven Tyler's typically exultant vocals, he screams a little bit (just a little bit), and the steady restrained drumming of Joey Kramer. So, yes, this is definitely an Aerosmith album, complete with songs about sex.

Some of the highlights are the first single released, "Baby, Please Don't Go" a jubilant blues-rocker, "Roadrunner" an amazing up-tempo toe tapper missing the typical bluesy melancholy, "Stop Messin Round" , and "Back Back Train". The later two songs' vocals being performed by Perry.

Also of note is Steven Tyler's harmonica playing. You can't really have a blues album without any harmonica, and he seems to have done a pretty good job.

Overall, I'd give this album a 8/10.

That's semantics. I consider an Album to be a full length release of songs by an artist, not an LP, which is what I assume your reference to Buffet was. Any full length release is an "album", and that "album" is available on LP (vinyl), cassette or CD.
