Filesharing's Top Ten: Vote now!!

Just curious, on what everyone's using thesedays. I'm currently using SoulSeek and am pretty happy with it. How about ya'll?

quadro2000 01-16-2004 08:54 AM

Hahah, nobody wants to respond because they don't want the RIAA to catch them. :)

I have a Mac and use Poisoned, but rarely.

bltzkriegmcanon 01-16-2004 11:01 AM

i'm on bittorrent, occasionally Kazaalite

actionoreos 01-16-2004 12:20 PM

torrent has been good to me but i haven't really had the time to spend downloading anything lately and not to mention i haven't really felt like downloading stuff (lost interest i guess).

omega2K4 01-16-2004 12:30 PM

WinMX for music, BitTorrent for *coughsoftwarecough*.

anleja 01-16-2004 01:28 PM

I've used Soulseek for about a week, it seems to work okay, or at least better than Kazaa Lite and eDonkey.

glytch 01-16-2004 01:46 PM

I'm using BitTorrent and eMule plus. Both are slow, but I love them because I've yet to get a bad file from either.

bonehed1 01-16-2004 02:25 PM

I use Shareaza....works well with Torrents

onodrim 01-16-2004 02:34 PM

Kazaalite for me, but only becase the connection at my school is crap, so nothing else works. If I had a functioning connection, I prefer WinMX, and BitTorrent is also great.

SecretMethod70 01-16-2004 02:48 PM

bittorrent and the eDonkey network

rockzilla 01-16-2004 04:26 PM

I like soulseek. But nothing has worked nearly as well for me as the original Napster. I still remember spending 9 hours straight getting music one night when I heard the supreme court was shutting it down the next day, turns out the rumours were untrue, but at least I had a couple hundred songs to listen to.

FoolThemAll 01-16-2004 04:39 PM

Soulseek. Kazaalite doesn't seem to work from within my college's network.

sailor 01-16-2004 08:23 PM

Usenet. Full albums, great quality.

mrbuck12000 01-16-2004 08:59 PM

kazaa lite seems to be a weener for me. But i have gotten into bit torrents b4 as well. I recently got into streamripper and record the radio station i listen on the net.

I use Soul Seek and Bit Torrent. Soul Seek can be slow at time but Bit Torrent is helluva fast :)

Mantus 01-16-2004 10:00 PM

Still use kazaa lite.

Jephree 01-17-2004 12:41 AM

Still using SoulSeek, but took some of the suggestions and ran with Bittorrent. Anyone suggestions for a rookie Bittorrent user?

R-Dubb604 01-17-2004 04:47 PM

direct connect and mirc, both are virus/spyware free they are the best in my opinion

milkyp 01-17-2004 07:09 PM

Im on Soulseek...seems to be the only place where you can be sure that you are getting the right thing. Kazaa and WinMX is full of fake files and such...

forseti-6 01-17-2004 07:34 PM

I used to use Kazaa lite, but ever since I signed up for Rhapsody, I don't really use it anymore. It seems that since I have most of the music I want at my fingertips without having to wait to download it, I don't need to pirate anymore :)

rev_skarekroe 01-19-2004 12:22 PM

SoulSeek. I've recently downloaded every unreleased or out of print song by both Ministry and White Zombie with very little trouble. It's THE program to use if you're looking for obscurities and rarities, which is really all I need filesharing for anyway.

da^cheat 01-19-2004 07:48 PM

i just use kazaa since i dont know how to use soulseek and bit torrent ... ect..

Amen. Heck, if I wouldn't have messed up my file of Napster somehow, I'd still use it for my main music-player, too!

Oh, and I use Kazaa, but with everyone saying good things about SoulSeek, I'm gonna have to check that out real soon.

Soulseek is no harder to use than Kazaa....

ToolBag 01-20-2004 08:15 PM

For underground stuff, Soulseek! then every now and then Ill hop on Kazaa lite++, I have been thinking about getting on Rhapsody. Id feel better about it when I download from smaller bands.

h2ogo69 01-21-2004 02:24 PM

...anything i can get my hands o

wrongfullyaccuzd 01-21-2004 11:14 PM

KazaaLite...it's all I use now. I used to use SoulSeek and when I did it was awesome. I don't anymore because...just because one filesharing program is enough I guess.

Vales419 01-23-2004 03:34 PM

Using MIRC is a great place to start for full albums. As for individual songs, I use WinMX.

V.

Jephree 01-24-2004 01:19 PM

Does MIRC work like Bittorrent? Another Q: I subscribed to Bittorrent and would like to unsubscribe. I keep getting bombarded with member emails and it's a little frustrating. I sent an email to bittorrent to unsubscribe me and nothing has happened. Any suggestions?

MSD 01-24-2004 05:23 PM

Never underestimate the power of a GNUtella client in ultrapeer mode. 800 connections, half of them to other ultrapeers with that many connections, I can get myself up to 30k + reachable nodes in half an hour.

BuddyHawks 01-24-2004 05:27 PM

Supernova - - > BitTorrent

vapusforever 01-24-2004 07:57 PM

in on Kazaalite 24/7 and occasionally WinMX. KaZAA FOREVER!!!!! I miss the old napster... the new one sucks:(

CheeseButtons 01-25-2004 07:27 PM

mIRC

Yabbo 01-29-2004 01:43 PM

Soulseek. Makes me wonder why I spent so many wasted days with Kazaa Lite

shimmy1 01-29-2004 01:51 PM

I used to use Soulseek, but couldn't find everything I wanted. Now that Kazaa lite is more or less dead, I'm going back to it.

Grondar 01-29-2004 02:06 PM

mIRC + IRCSpy is all I need.

CheeseButtons 01-29-2004 09:53 PM

Occasionally i'll see what Kazaa has to offer

meembo 01-31-2004 02:30 PM

DirectConnect is the way to go, but you have to find a hub like this and get going. Hubs use standards and user/passwords to control quality and access, and to help protect privacy

goateebird 01-31-2004 02:37 PM

Soulseek and Bittorrent

I'm still looking for sites with lots of torrents though. I saw suprnova.org and novasearch.net, anything else?

Jephree 01-31-2004 03:34 PM

Myself,...? Back to SoulSeek only. My mailbox was filling to quickly w/ Bittorrent
