Songs you can't understand why you like

We all have them, favorite songs from bands that you normally wouldn't listen to, but for some reason you can't get enough of a particular song. For me it is Dishwalla's 'Counting Blue Cars'. I could listen to that all day, yet they are not the type of band I gravitate to.

What's yours?

Stare At The Sun 12-31-2003 02:50 PM

I like that Tatu song, all the things she said, or whatever it is...I have no idea why, i just really like it -_-

Tophat665 12-31-2003 03:36 PM

I think (Hit Me) Baby One More Time is one heck of a song, but, other than as a sex toy, I have no use for Brittney Spears or girlie Pop in general.

Halx 12-31-2003 04:37 PM

Dont ask me to explain Oingo Boingo, Ben Folds Five, or Funker Vogt... please, just don't ask.

brandon11983 01-01-2004 04:18 PM

Don't know why I've been into Liz Phair or Norah Jones. I guess its the audiophile in me.

h2ogo69 01-10-2004 02:20 PM

robert miles - children...i dont like trance but god damn thats a great song

Strange Famous 01-10-2004 02:48 PM

Guns n Roses - SweeT Child o' Mine

mystmarimatt 01-10-2004 03:31 PM

"Mmmbop" by Hanson. no idea why, it's just catchy to me.

forseti-6 01-10-2004 05:31 PM

There are quite a few I can't understand why I like including...
The ENTIRE cd "Let Go" by Avril Lavigne
there are a couple Spice Girl songs
a couple Mandy Moore songs
some Jessica Simpson
some Britney Spears...

I can't explain it. I guess they're popular for a reason, but I'm not really into "pop" music, but I like those songs... weird

Yeah, agreed about Liz Phair. Also, "Milkshake" by Kelis is a song I'll never know why I sing along with.

InTeGrA77 01-11-2004 06:53 PM

Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys: Get Low
Outkast: Hey Ya!

dunno why I like them...they're on the radio 24/7, but I'm still not sick of them yet!

hilbert25 01-11-2004 08:37 PM

Everything by Maroon 5, they're a freaking boy band for christ sake.

GoldFrapp - Train. It's really freaking catchy, and the video's more than slightly pornographic.

anti fishstick 01-12-2004 10:24 AM

yeah, i really dig maroon 5's radio song.. "harder to breathe" or whatever. i saw them live and didn't like them toooo well. thought he sounded too much like jamiroquai.

i'd have to say "ash to ash" by loudermilk though. it's a really pretty song but i'm not into their other music at all. mediocre at best.

shred_head 01-14-2004 06:03 PM

Oh I've often asked myself this kind of question. I know that this stuff is supposed to suck, but I just like listening to it. Its like violence in a way, I know I'm not supposed to enjoy watching it, but some of it is pretty fucking cool. Some of my list goes as such:

Avril's "Let Go" cd, yes the whole thing, she just writes some catchy melodies
Two T.A.T.U songs
"I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany
A few Winger songs
Some Christina Aguilera
Shania Twain

It basically comes down to the fact that I find all of these songs really catchy and I like the melodies. And everyone always has a song or group that they like but might not admit to, its natural.

Peryn 01-14-2004 06:15 PM

Forgot who its by, but nobody i'd ever heard of before. Really love that song "Karn Evil 9". Just kinda catchy i guess.

Johnny Rotten 01-14-2004 11:36 PM

"Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears. I'm not supposed to like that kind of stuff! Argh!

gilada 01-15-2004 09:20 AM

Radio by Y-O-U
The New Sound by The Capricorns
Blood Gulch Blues by uh, can't remember, but it's the theme to Red Vs. Blue

bonehed1 01-15-2004 10:21 AM

Toxic by Britney Spears....I can't stand her music but for some reason I like this song.

I agree. I think it's just a really fun song with a nice rythym to it. Or maybe I have bad taste in music. Also that Junior Senior song.

present_future 01-15-2004 12:31 PM

Da Da Da by Trio. You know, that song from the Volkswagen commercial. I just think it's catchy.

Hal Incandenza 01-15-2004 01:50 PM

The Grateful Dead's "Touch of Grey"--hate the band, love the song

Lots of stuff by Poison--in theory I should loathe them, but with the eighties metal revival in full swing I've been hearing them a lot lately, and they had some great songs

"Waterfalls" by TLC

chrisg299 01-15-2004 02:04 PM

breakfast at tiffanys - matchbox 20? i believe....couldnt tell you why though lol one of them damn songs i have stuck in my head all day though : P

That was Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Mine is the No Doubt cover of 'It's My Life'. I hated the original version, and I don't care much for No Doubt, but whenever that song comes on the radio, I seem to start rockin'.

The "ding" noises sound like they're from a keyboard/synthesizer. You have to check out the music video for it!

I believe it's the Righteous Brothers that sing "You've Lost That Loving Feeling."

And Big Boi's - I like the way you move gets me singing all the time.

Darth_Kettch 01-16-2004 05:55 PM

Jim Stärk's Let It Out. It's seems far to simplistic for me to like, yet I return to it... Strange :p

high_way 01-18-2004 04:29 AM

it was released a little while ago but scooter - the logical song.

not a fan of dance/techno and the like AT ALL!!! but i can not get enough of that song.

Derwood 01-18-2004 06:21 AM

Goodbye and 2 become 1 by Spice Girls
All Cried Out by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam w/ Full Force
So Happy Together by the Turtles
No Diggity by Blackstreet
Regulator by Warren G and Nate Dogg
Show me the meaning of being lonely by Backstreet Boys

actionoreos 01-18-2004 11:04 AM

I've been into that new Chevelle song and I don't know why.. it really isn't my type of music but I dig the tune.

FoolThemAll 01-18-2004 01:09 PM

Chevelle's singer bears some similarity to APC/Tool's singer. I think that's why I liked "The Red" (but not so much "Bring The Pain Below").

notaneel 01-19-2004 08:37 PM

i hate to admit that i like "Rock Your Body" by Justin Timberlake....it's just a really really good pop song....and i can't help myself

Yeah I've noticed some stylistic similarities between the Chevelle stuff I hear on the radio and some APC and/or Tool stuff.
