Primus ~ A Concert Review
just saw Primus. i was in the 4th row. it was incredible. it was a sitdown show but nobody sat. Les even made fun of some people who were sitting. there were clips of Les's claymation, some strange films and live shots of the stage bing projected onto 2 big white balls hanging above the stage. i've seen Les 4 times now and this was the best.
i could go on all night but i'll just give you guys a set list with some details. hopefully i remember correctly. kinda fuzzyheaded right now. 1st Set Southbound Pachyderm Sgt. Pilcher Over The Electric Grapevine Mary The Icecube Toys Go Winding Down Jellikit Frizzle Fry 2nd Set ~ Sailing The Seas Of Cheese Seas Of Cheese -Les's stand-up electric wouldn't work so he hacked it out on his 4-string and moved on. Here Come The Bastards Sgt. Baker American Life Jerry Was A Racecar Driver In between these songs les brought out his Whamola and played some improv riffs that were amazing. he layed it down on the stage and borrowed a drumstick from Tim and played with his bow and the drumstick for a few minutes. even Tim stopped playing so he could watch. Eleven Is It Luck ~ in the middle of this song Les played Pink Floyd's In The Flesh ~ It was awesome. Grandad's Little Ditty Tommy The Cat Sathington Waltz Those Damn Blue Collar Tweekers Fish On Los Bastardos ~ 2 guys wearing masks came onto stage on playing bass the other guitar. Les was on a 2 drum setup and a guy in a dinosaur costume was on another 2 drum setup and Larry was crowded in the back. Les took a tour of the concert hall for this one. Encore Too Many Puppies i may have left out a song in the first set but i think this is correct. ~ Split |

Last night!!
I saw them here in seattle last night, it was amazing. I was on the floor GA, so fun!!
I saw Les once before with holy mackrel but this took the cake!! That man is god on the bass. I loved the videos in the background. I could have done without such a long drum solo though Last edited by Rowan; 10-27-2003 at 09:33 AM.. |

I saw them about ten years ago and it was an amazing show.
There wasn't any animation or special sets but they played a three hour set and it seemed like 30 minutes. We were jammed into a concrete bunker that doubles as a visitors center. Not the best acoustics but they did a great job of compensating for it. Les played the audience like he did his bass. Primus sucks, Primus sucks, Primus sucks. On the top ten list of best shows I have ever seen. |

Crazy. I listened to my copy of tails from the punchbowl about two days ago for the first time in probably 5+ years. I recently got an Ipod right when I lost whole CD collection. I borrowed a bunch of my girlfriends and found a few "long lost" CD's in my room and loaded everything I could find onto it. I forgot how odd and amazing their music is, most importantly how good they are in the use of their instruments.
Are they on a large tour or just doing a few shows? Man I'd love to see them live. I had the weird notion that they had broken up when Oysterhead formed... -T

I saw Them at Bonnaroo this year on saturday night...it was a little late and a lot muddy but Holy Fuck were they awesome!
They are on their "Hallucini-genics" tour now. Les came out and gave props to the guys from The Dead, then mentioned that either He or the crowd seemed to be experiencing the wonderful effects of psilocybin!!! these fantastic orbs they had seeming to loom over the stage with strange images flashing...wow. Oh they also have Adrian Belew from King Crimson playing with them...they played a great cover of yyz from Rush. I never saw them play before but i would love to see them again. found out too late that they were in my region like 2 days after Bonnaroo(Penns Landing) who knows when they'll be back again

Just saw them last night at Radio City.... BLOWN AWAY. They played a bunch of assorted songs first set, and all of Frizzle Fry the second set. Just incredible. Some of the die-hards there were disappointed but I sure wasn't. Just to watch Les go to work on that bass... it's almost superhuman.

they came to seattle at the june 2 it was an awesome concert and while i was under the effects of mushrooms there was the fly guy there and an oompa loompa and some rasta guy who talked for like 10mins about the wonders of women.
it was a shame the last 2 times they been here it was in a kind of shitty place (exhibition center, and paramount theatre-a sit down place). oh and both times they had the balls, the drug video during intermission and the same images on the balls. even if you dont like their music id suggest going to just stand in amazement at all their skills with instruments |
