Anyone know what happened to them? Their website hasn't been updated since January. Did they break up?

They played at a festival in Sweden this summer, so I don't think they've broken up.

They are recording their next record. It's supposed to be farther in the direction of veni,vedi,vicous as opposed to the straight punk of their first LP. That's to bad, in my opinion, but I'll be checking it out for sure.
They didn't break up, it's obvious they like to fuck with their audience, so even if they said they broke up, I wouldn't believe it. They have been playing together since they were 14.

I got veni,vedi,vicous and liek their sound. Later, a friend got me "Barely Legal." Wow. I like it better. Raw. More enthusiastic (yeah, I bet you didn't think that it was possible).

I'd love to see them live.

They put on an INCREDIBLE live show... they are just insane with their instruments and motions but still spare no precision... just an all-around fantastic performance.

Worth going out of your way to catch.

I have to say that I never really liked them. I think it's because I saw the video to Hate to Say I Told You So. That was my introduction to them. That video was awful.

The Hives are indeed alive and back with TYRANNOSAURUS HIVES, their newest album. They've been playing the single "Walk, Idiot, Walk" for a few weeks now. I just saw them yesterday down at Soma in San Diego, and they were AMAZING!!! So much energy and Pelle's ego just oozed out into us all!! I didn't know it was the last leg of their US tour until the last few songs, for they're flying overseas to Japan as I type this.

Just saw them at Avalon in Boston a couple of weeks ago...great show...very smart band....

I usually get kinda turned off by bands who seem to work a little <i>too</i> hard on the image side of things (although I admit it's inescapable, to a point...), but The Hives seem to "play their parts" so well. So I hereby grant them an exemption. Cool band; glad they're still together.
